The Riverside Stadium is a football stadium in Middlesbrough, England, which has been the home of Middlesbrough since it opened in 1995. Its current capacity is 34,742, all seated, although there is provisional planning permission in place to expand that to 42,000 if required. History The stadium was built to replace Ayresome Park after the Taylor Report, which required all top division football stadiums to be all-seater. Barking Riverside is a mixed-use development in the area of Barking, east London, England, within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. It is being built on land formerly occupied by Barking Power Station, adjacent to the River Thames, and is 10.5 miles (16.9km) east of Charing Cross. The 440 acre brownfield site has planning permission for 10,800 homes. As planning restrictions prevented more than 1,200 homes without adequate transport links, the London Overground Gospel Oak to Barking line has been extended to Barking Riverside to allow the development to be completed as planned and the new station opened on 18 July 2022. Riverside ( cy, Glan yr Afon) is an inner-city area and community of Cardiff, Wales, next to the River Taff. Riverside is also the name of the electoral ward, which includes the district of Pontcanna, to the north. The population of the community in 2011 was 13,771. The Riverside electoral ward of Cardiff covers the Riverside and Pontcanna areas of the city, electing three councillors to Cardiff Council. The ward was originally created in 1890, as a ward to Cardiff County Borough Council. Description The Riverside ward includes the communities of Riverside and Pontcanna, which are located immediately west of Cardiff city centre and the River Taff. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 13,771. The boundary of the electoral ward initially matched that of the Riverside community.
