Riverside, Buffalo
Riverside is a neighborhood of Buffalo, New York, located in the northwestern part of the city, along the Niagara River. It is sometimes referred to in conjunction with another community located directly south, Black Rock. History Early years Prior to the late 1800s, Riverside was an area that remained largely undeveloped farmland. For many, it was a "rural retreat" to the larger, more industrious city of Buffalo, inhabited mostly by a few wealthy owners of large estates. Riverside stayed this way until 1888, after the passage of the Hertel Avenue Sewer Bill, which allowed sewer construction to take place in the area. Subsequently, real estate development began in 1890 when the North Park Land Company purchased of land near the current Riverside Park (formerly known as Germania Park), which boasts a scenic outlook of the Niagara River. Riverside is a village in Steuben County, New York, United States. The population was 497 at the 2010 census. Riverside is situated in the town of Corning and is a western suburb of the city of Corning. History In the latter part of the 19th Century the nickname for the hamlet was Huckmuck due to flooding during periods of excessive rain. Riverside is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 2,911 at the 2010 census. Riverside is in the Town of Southampton and derives its name from being on the south bank of the Peconic River. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which is land and , or 4.00%, is water. Demographics At the 2000 census, there were 2,875 people, 846 households and 485 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 563.4 per square mile (217.7/km2). There were 926 housing units at an average density of 181.5/sq mi (70.1/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 59.10% White, 35.58% African American, 1.08% Native American, 0.73% Asian, 1.36% from other races, and 2.16% from two or more races. Unadilla, New York
Unadilla is a town in Otsego County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 4,392. The name is derived from an Iroquois word for "meeting place". Unadilla is located in the southwestern corner of the county, southwest of Oneonta. The village of Unadilla is located in the southern part of the town. The mayor of Unadilla is David Welch, as of January 13, 2020. History The first settlement took place ''circa'' 1770 in the area of Sidney (in adjacent Delaware County), followed by Unadilla. Both Sidney and Unadilla were destroyed during the American Revolution and were re-established after the war. The town was formed from part of the Town of Otsego in 1792. The Charles M. Schwab House (also called Riverside) was a 75-room mansion on Riverside Drive, between 73rd and 74th Streets, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. It was constructed for steel magnate Charles M. Schwab. Riverside Drive is a scenic north–south thoroughfare in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The road runs on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, generally paralleling the Hudson River and Riverside Park between 72nd Street and the vicinity of the George Washington Bridge at 181st Street.
