Riverleigh is a rural locality in the North Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Riverleigh had a population of 80 people. Geography The locality is bounded to the north, west and south by the Burnett River. The land is used for farming. History Riverleigh State School opened 15 October 1913. It was mothballed on 31 December 2009 and closed on 31 December 2010. The school was located at 289 Coonambula-Eidsvold Road (). The school's website was archived. A Methodist church opened at Riverleigh in 1921. In 1928, it was decided to relocate the church building to be nearer to the state school, with the church being re-opened in the new location on Sunday 21 October 1928. The Monto railway line was extended to Mundubbera on 3 February 1914. Monto Railway Line
The Mungar Junction to Monto railway line is a railway in Queensland, Australia. Progressively opened in eleven stages between 1889 and 1928 the line branched from the North Coast line at Mungar Junction a short distance west of Maryborough and followed a westerly route towards Biggenden and Gayndah before turning north via Mundubbera and Eidsvold to Monto. The ''Fraser Coast Chronicle'' is an online newspaper serving the Fraser Coast area in Queensland, Australia. It was started as the Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser. History Charles Hardie Buzacott first published the ''Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser'' in Maryborough as a four-page tabloid, in his slab hut in Lennox Street in November 1860. It sold for sixpence and was read from Gayndah in the west and Childers in the north to Gympie in the south. In 1863, Buzacott sold his interests to William Swain Roberts and Joseph Robinson, who set out to "reflect the community's wants and opinions while boldly and distinctly enunciating our own views". Burnett River
The Burnett River is a river located in the Wide Bay–Burnett and Central Queensland regions of Queensland, Australia. Course and features The Burnett River rises in the Burnett Range, part of the Great Dividing Range, close to Mount Gaeta and east of Monto. It drains a basin covering 33,210 km² which is 1.9% of the total area of Queensland. North Burnett Region
The North Burnett Region is a local government area in Queensland, Australia in the northern catchment of the Burnett River. Established in 2008, it was preceded by several previous local government areas with histories extending back to the early 1900s. It has an estimated operating budget of A$32 million.
