River Gang
''River Gang'' is a 1945 American crime film directed by Charles David and written by Leslie Charteris and Dwight V. Babcock. The film stars Gloria Jean, John Qualen, Bill Goodwin, Keefe Brasselle, Sheldon Leonard, Gus Schilling and Vince Barnett. The film was released on September 21, 1945, by Universal Pictures. Plot Wendy (Gloria Jean), a naive young girl, lives with her kindly Uncle Bill (John Qualen), who has sheltered her from life by instilling a belief in fairy-tales and make-believe. Charles Henri David
Charles Henri David (May 4, 1906 – March 1, 1999) was a film director. He worked as an assistant to Zoltan Korda for a number of years. He was head of Pathe in France and worked with Jean Renoir and René Clair. He was with the French army until 1940. At Universal he sold a story of his, "A Fairy Tale Murder", to Universal, who let him direct it as ''River Gang''. He was the third husband to Deanna Durbin. They married in December 1950, after she had lived with him in France for eight months, and they stayed married until his death, having one child. They settled in France. Robert Homans
Robert Edward Homans (November 8, 1877 – July 28, 1947) was an American actor who entered films in 1923 after a lengthy stage career. Life and career Robert Homans was born November 8, 1877, in Malden, Massachusetts. Although he studied medicine for three years after his college graduation, a 1906 newspaper article noted that "the 'stage bee' got into his bonnet and nothing would do but that he become an actor." His Broadway credits include '' The Blue Bird'' (1910), ''The Blue Envelope'' (1915), ''Johnny, Get Your Gun'' (1916) and ''Like a King'' (1921). His screen debut came in ''Madame Sherry''. Douglas Croft (born Douglas Malcolm Wheatcroft, August 12, 1926 – October 24, 1963) was an American child actor and a soldier who is best remembered for being the first person to portray the DC Comics character Robin, the Boy Wonder, as well as his secret identity Dick Grayson, in the 1943 serial ''Batman'' when he was 16 years old.
