"Ritmu" (; ) is a song by Maltese singer Aidan released on 2 March 2022. The song placed second in the national competition to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and reached number one on Malta's singles charts. Background and release Aidan unsuccessfully competed to represent Malta in the 2018 contest in which his song "Dai Laga" was updated as it was reportedly not entirely original and could have potentially violated Eurovision rules. Following the positive response to " Naħseb Fik", he announced he would be competing to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with an "upbeat pop song with a very European sound" written in Maltese. The song was later revealed to be "Ritmu" and he placed second in the national competition behind Emma Muscat. Aidan performed the song at a Eurovision pre-party in London. Aidan Cassar (born 17 December 1999), known professionally as Aidan, is a Maltese singer and songwriter. Career In 2018 he competed in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with Dai Laga. Following reports that the song, originally described as an original composition, had used a publicly available production beat and could have potentially violated Eurovision rules, it was revamped and re-released. The song placed fourth in the contest. Afterwards, he participated in the '' X Factor Malta''. In 2019 he represented Malta in the OGAE Song Contest 2019 with the song "The Feeling". His single " Naħseb Fik" has been compared with " Tick Tock" by Clean Bandit and Mabel and was said to have a similar cord progression. He denied the beat and melody were plagiarised. Malta participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy. Emma Muscat was selected as the Maltese representative via the national final ''Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022'', where she competed with the song "Out of Sight", but on 14 March 2022 it was announced Muscat would perform the song " I Am What I Am" instead.
