Risør Kammermusikkfest
Risør kammermusikkfest or the Risør Chamber Music Festival is an annually occurring festival in Risør (town), Risør, Norway. It was established in 1991 by Bernt Lauritz Larsen from Risør, in collaboration with Lars Anders Tomter. From 1992 Leif Ove Andsnes entered as artistic director with Tomter. Turid Birkeland, former Norwegian Culture minister, replaced Bernt Lauritz Larsen as festival manager in 2004. After a tour to Brussels, London and New York in 2010, Birkeland and Andsnes resigned, and Henning Kraggerud entered as new artistic director with Tomter. At the same time, the festival entered into a collaboration with the Det Norske Kammerorkester. DNK's director Per Erik Kise Larsen became the festival director, the orchestra became a permanent festival orchestra, and the festival and orchestra received joint administration. Risør Church
Risør Church ( no, Risør kirke or ) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Risør Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the town of Risør. It is one of the two churches for the Risør parish which is part of the Aust-Nedenes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1647 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 450 people. History The area of Risør was part of the Søndeled Church parish which was historically an annex of the prestegjeld of Gjerstad. Risør is a Seaside resort, a List of towns and cities in Norway, town and the administrative centre of Risør municipality in Agder county, Norway. Leif Ove Andsnes
Leif Ove Andsnes (; born 7 April 1970) is a Norwegian pianist and chamber musician. Andsnes has made several recordings for Virgin and EMI. In 2012, Leif Ove Andsnes has signed to Sony Classical, and recorded for the label the "Beethoven Journey" project, which included the composer's five piano concertos with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. The works were recorded over three years, beginning with Piano Concertos Nos 1 and 3 in 2012, followed by Concertos Nos 2 and 4 in 2013 and the Fifth Piano Concerto and ''Choral Fantasy'' in 2014. Turid Birkeland
Turid Birkeland (5 November 1962 – 24 December 2015) was a Norwegian cultural executive and former politician for the Labour Party. She was Minister of Culture in 1996–97. She was an author and also worked in television, including being chief of cultural programming at NRK and a member of the board at Telenor. She also headed the Risør Chamber Music Festival, and was the director of Concerts Norway. Henning Kraggerud (born 23 June 1973) is a Norwegian musician and composer. Career Kraggerud was born in Oslo. He studied with Camilla Wicks, Emanuel Hurwitz, and Stephan Barratt-Due, before embarking on a career that has brought solo appearances thought Europe, Russia and United States. He made his American debut as a recitalist in 1998 at Carnegie Hall, and has collaborated in recitals and chamber-music performances. A leader-soloist of chamber orchestras and sinfoniettas, Kraggerud is skilled at improvisation, and is an experienced composer, having written music arrangements and his own cadenzas. Det Norske Kammerorkester or The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra (established in 1977) is a chamber orchestra based in Oslo. Biography The orchestra was founded by the violinist Bjarne Fiskum who got the idea for a summer course for young string talents summer 1975. Since its foundation the orchestra has recorded some 20 albums and been on numerous tours in Norway, Europe, Asia and United States.
