Rise and Fall was a Belgian hardcore punk band from Ghent, formed 2002 by members of The Deal and Kingpin. They were among a few European bands currently signed to American hardcore label Deathwish Inc. Rise and Fall have been influenced by bands such as Black Flag, Converge, Neurosis, Tragedy and Entombed. History Early career and ''Hellmouth'' (2002–2004) Formed in 2002 in Ghent, Belgium as a side project of members of The Deal and Kingpin, Rise and Fall eventually became the most important band for all four members as these groups disbanded. Following some lineup changes, the band released their first album ''Hellmouth'', in April 2004. The album was released on CD a few months later by JTTP Records in Germany and on vinyl by Belgian label Anger Management Records. The band then set out on a self-booked European tour in August, and supported 100 Demons on their European tour in October. "Rise & Fall" is a song by British singer Craig David. It was written for his second studio album, ''Slicker Than Your Average'' (2002), while production was helmed by duo Soulshock and Karlin. The song, a collaboration with fellow British musician Sting, is based on a sample of the song " Shape of My Heart" from Sting's 1993 album ''Ten Summoner's Tales''. "Rise & Fall" served as the album's the third single and returned David to the UK top five, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart. It reached No. 1 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart, and debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Production Halperin had started work on the album over a year earlier, only to put the release date on hold to fulfill his ''Idol'' contract. This album saw Madness at their most experimental, exhibiting a range of musical styles including jazz, English music hall, and Eastern influences. ''NME'' described it at the time of its release as "the best Madness record". It has often been retrospectively described as a concept album. Though the album was never released in the US, several tracks were later placed on the compilation ''Madness'' (1983), including "Our House", the band's only top 10 hit in America. ''Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War'' is a real-time strategy video game developed by both Stainless Steel Studios and Midway Games which was released on June 12, 2006. The game incorporates segments of both third-person and first-person shooter gameplay, by allowing the player to temporarily control a "hero". ''Rise and Fall'' is based in the first millennium BC, and features four playable civilizations: Persia, Greece, Egypt, and Rome. The game includes over eighty civilization-unique military units, as well as eight "hero" units—of which only one may be purchased during a game. ''Rise and Fall'' is a British reality television series broadcast on Channel 4, which premiered on 19 March 2023 and was hosted by Greg James. Sixteen contestants divided themselves into the "Rulers" and the "Grafters". While the Rulers lived in a luxury penthouse making the decisions, the Grafters lived in the basement, carrying out tasks to win money for the prize pot. In each episode, the Rulers voted on one of their number to be eliminated from the game and one (or more) of the Grafters had a chance to move up to the penthouse to join them. The winner was chosen from the Rulers at the end of the series to win the prize pot of up to £100,000.
