Risca United F.C.
Risca United Association Football Club is a football club based in Risca, South Wales. The team plays in the Ardal SE. History Established in 1946 Risca United A.F.C. are a Welsh League football club. They are nicknamed the "Cuckoos", in keeping with the town's legend of the Cuckoo. The club's motto is "Integrity". The home ground is Ty-Isaf Park, now managed by the club through a long-term lease from its owners, Caerphilly County Borough Council. It is undergoing development to improve its facilities, to include seating in its 500 (standing) capacity spectator stand. Floodlights, improved dressing rooms and playing surface are part of the planned developments. Risca
Risca ( cy, Rhisga) is a town in the Caerphilly County Borough and the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire in south-east Wales. Risca has a railway station, opened on the Ebbw Valley Railway in February 2008, after a gap of 46 years. It is split into two communities; Risca East and Risca West. It has a population of 11,700. The town is now part of the Cardiff Capital Region which has a combined population of 1,543,293. Cardiff the capital of Wales can be reached in under 28 minutes from the nearby railway station of Risca and Pontymister station which reopened in 2008 after a gap of nearly 60 years. They have clubs with amateur/semi-professional status and sit at the third level of the Welsh football league system. The first year of their operation would have been 2020–21 but the 2020–21 Ardal NE, 2020–21 Ardal North East season, 2020–21 Ardal NW, 2020–21 Ardal North West season, 2020–21 Ardal SE, 2020–21 Ardal South East season and 2020–21 Ardal SW, 2020–21 Ardal South West season were all cancelled. The inaugural season was moved to 2021–22. The creation of the leagues mark the first time the Football Association of Wales owns and is administering tier 3 of the Welsh league system.
