Riona
''Riona'' (Riy-OW-Naa) is an Africa Magic original period drama set in a 12th Century Itsekiri kingdom. It was directed by James Omokwe. It stars Big Brother Naija season 1 housemate, Frank Konwea, Elvina Ibru, Najite Dede and Mimi Chaka. It premiered on September 28, 2020. It airs on DStv channel 151 and streams on Showmax. Plot summary The kingdom of Oyomere is under siege when a prophecy about a child born under the rising of a dark moon is coming to destroy King Ofotonku and bring his reign to an end. This unsettles King Ofotonku and he orders the killing of children born under the dark moon to avert the prophecy, but four of the targeted children survive. Of the four, Tsema and Aghan (Ofotkun's heir) cross paths by chance, for they are children born under the dark moon and destined to bring down Ofotonku's dictatorship. Elvina Esewvre Ibru is a Nigerian actress and On Air Personality from Delta State. Early life and education She attended London Academy of Performing Arts (LAPA) in England. She later attended Webster University, Regents Park, London where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. 2022 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards
The 2022 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards held on Saturday, 14 May 2022 at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos. It was set an 8-day event which started on Saturday, 7 May 2022, unlike previous 1 day events. The nominees were revealed by actors, Adesua Etomi-Wellington and Daniel Etim Effiong on Saturday 19 March 2022 in a ceremony. A total of 33 categories were announced, 12 of which are open to public voting. Best Online Social Content Creator was introduced as a new category. The winner in the Best Soundtrack category is set to won a ₦1 million prize. Itsekiri People
The Itsekiri (also called the Isekiri, ''iJekri'', ''Itsekri'', ''Ishekiri'', or Itsekhiri) are one of the Yoruboid subgroup of Nigeria's Niger Delta area, Delta State. The Itsekiris presently number 2.7 million people and live mainly in the Warri South, Warri North and Warri South West local government districts of Delta State on the Atlantic coast of Nigeria. Significant communities of Itsekiris can be found in parts of Edo and Ondo states and in various other Nigerian cities including Lagos, Benin City, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
