Boxing Ring
A boxing ring, often referred to simply as a ring or the squared circle, is the space in which a boxing match occurs. A modern ring consists of a square raised platform with a post at each corner. Four ropes are attached to the posts and pulled parallel under tension with turnbuckles to form the boundary of the competition area. Construction As there are a number of professional boxing organizations, the standards of construction vary. A standard ring is between to a side between the ropes with another outside. The platform of the ring is generally from the ground and is covered by about of padding topped by stretched canvas. Erik Sven Fernström (15 April 1942 – 25 March 2018), known by his stage name Jerry Williams, was a Swedish singer and actor. He began his career as the lead singer of The Violents, before launching a solo career. Early life Williams grew up in a working-class family in Solna. The family had a one-room apartment. Williams' mother, a nurse, died when he was only twelve years old. His father took care of him and his brother alone. He was very interested in sports, and as a youngster he played football, ice hockey and was engaged in cycle sport. He was also a member of Narva BK, a boxing club. Ronaldo Antunacci Charles Affif (December 30, 1965), known professionally as Ron Affif, is an American jazz guitarist of Lebanese and Italian origin. He is the son of boxer Charley Zivic, who was a jazz fan and encouraged his son. Career Born Ronaldo Antunacci Charles Affif in Pittsburgh, he is mostly self-taught. At the age of twelve, he took lessons from his uncle, guitarist Ron Anthony. In 1984, after graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked with Dick Berk, Pete Christlieb, Dave Pike, and Jack Sheldon, then a couple years later moved to New York City. He led a band which included Colin Bailey, Brian O'Rourke, Andy Simpkins, and Sherman Ferguson. In the 1990s, formed a trio with Essiet Essiet and Jeff "Tain" Watts in New York City. ''Ringside'' is a live album released by Cold Chisel in 2003. Recorded over 4 nights in June 2003, it peaked at number 27 in 2003 and peaked at number 16 following its vinyl release on 12 November 2021. Album details The album contains two Steve Prestwich songs ("Lovelight", "All I Wanna Do") not released on any other Cold Chisel album, and "Fallen Angel" that later appeared on a solo Don Walker album. These were the first Cold Chisel songs to feature Prestwich and Walker on lead vocals. ''Ringside'' features covers of Johnny Cash's " Big River", the standard " Cry Me a River", and Dragon's "Sunshine", written by Walker's friend Paul Hewson. The concert was an attempt to feature the band, "performing in a smaller, intimate environment," and often, "in an acoustic format." Ringside is an indie rock band from Hollywood, California, originally formed in Los Angeles. They specialize in fusing indie rock with electronic beats. The band consists of Scott Thomas, (vocals, guitar, and keyboard), Kirk Hellie (guitarist), Sandy Chila (live drums), Max Allyn (live keys), and actor Balthazar Getty, who doubles as a beatmaker and producer. Scott Thomas' inspiration came from artists like The Stooges, The Clash, T. Rex, and Depeche Mode. Thomas eventually collaborated with Getty, who was already into making beats for underground hip-hop groups. Their debut album ''Ringside'' was released on April 19, 2005, under Fred Durst's label Flawless Records and Geffen Records, with the single "Tired of Being Sorry" achieving moderate success. The song was later covered by singer/songwriter Enrique Iglesias on his eighth album '' Insomniac'' and was released as a single in Europe. Wrestling Ring
A wrestling ring is the stage on which a professional wrestling match usually occurs. It is similarly constructed to a boxing ring and is traditionally square-shaped. Configuration and construction The configuration and construction of the traditional wrestling ring closely resembles that of a boxing ring. Like boxing rings, wrestling rings are also known by the poetic name of the "squared circle", which derives from how combative exhibitions would often be held in a roughly drawn circle on the ground.
