Ringerike Prison
Ringerike Prison ( Norwegian: ''Ringerike fengsel'') is located in Ringerike municipality, just south of the small town of Tyristrand, Norway, not far from Tyrifjorden. The prison is, according to the Norwegian standard, large and secure. The total area within the wall covers approx. 74 acres. Ringerike prison is a closed institution in the Southern Region in the Norwegian Correctional Services, with the police custody and long-term prisoners as the primary groups. The Norwegian highest security prison will also handle high-risk inmates in a satisfactory manner. The prison is surrounded by a 7 meters high and 1068 meters long wall. Ringerike (municipality)
Ringerike is a municipality in the traditional and electoral district Buskerud in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Ringerike. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Hønefoss. The municipality of Ringerike was created on 1 January 1964 after the merger of the town of Hønefoss and the rural municipalities of Hole, Norderhov, Tyristrand, and Ådal. However, the area of Hole was removed from the municipality of Ringerike on 1 January 1977 to become a separate municipality once again. The historic area of Ringerike included not just the modern municipality of Ringerike but also Hole and Krødsherad, Modum and Sigdal. Tyristrand
Tyristrand is a village in Ringerike municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. Background Tyristrand parish was designated a municipality following a split from Hole on 1 July 1916. The municipality of Hole made been established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). On 1 January 1964 Tyristrand was merged with the municipalities Hole, Hønefoss, Norderhov and Ådal to form the new municipality of Ringerike. Before the merger, Tyristrand had a population of 1,714. The village of Tyristrand is located on the western shore of Tyrifjorden, between Hønefoss and Vikersund. Randsfjord Line The Norwegian legislature decided in 1863 to build the Randsfjord Line railway system. The first stretch of the line opened in 1866 between Vikersund and Drammen. Tyrifjorden
Tyrifjorden (Lake Tyri) is a lake in Norway. It lies northwest of Oslo and is the nation's fifth largest lake with an area of 139 km2. It has a volume of 13 km3, is 295 meters deep at its deepest, and lies 63 meters above sea level. The lake's primary source is the Begna river, which discharges into Tyrifjorden at Hønefoss where the river forms the waterfall of Hønefossen. History and profile The former ''Drammens Tidende'' dates back to 2 January 1832, when it was known as ''Tiden'', taking the new name in thirteen years later. Hønefoss
__NOTOC__ Hønefoss is a town and the administrative center of the municipality of Ringerike in Buskerud county, Norway. Hønefoss is an industrial center of inner Østlandet, containing several factories and other industry. As of 1 January 2008, Hønefoss has 14,177 inhabitants. In 1852, Hønefoss received town status and was separated from Norderhov. In 1964, Hønefoss ceased being a separate municipality and became part of Ringerike.
