The Ring En Español is a Spanish version of boxing publication '' The Ring'' magazine. ''Ring En Español'' was originally published from 1977 to 1985. Originally published from Caracas and later from Panama, it moved in 1981 to Miami, to Editorial America (currently owned by Televisa), the same editorial house that oversaw the production of ''Cosmopolitan''s Spanish version. Although ''Ring En Español'' covered every boxing event worldwide, it concentrated more than anything else on Hispanic boxers, helping boxers like Wilfred Benítez, Wilfredo Gómez, Julio César Chávez, Eusebio Pedroza, Roberto Durán, Santos Laciar, Antonio Cervantes, Pipino Cuevas, Ossie Ocasio, Lupe Pintor, Rafael "Bazooka" Limón, Edwin Rosario, Héctor Camacho, Salvador Sanchez, Hilario Zapata and many others become international household names. Lupe Pintor
José Guadalupe Pintor Guzmán (born 13 April 1955), better known as Lupe Pintor, is a Mexican former professional boxer who competed from 1974 to 1995. He won the WBC bantamweight title in 1979 after defeating Carlos Zárate Serna, and made eight defenses. In 1985, Pintor defeated Juan Meza to win the WBC super bantamweight title, but lost to Samart Payakaroon in his first defense the following year. Early life and career Lupe Pintor was born into a poor, working-class family in Cuajimalpa, just outside Mexico City in 1955 and is alleged to have had an extremely violent relationship with his father, eventually forcing him to run away. Juan Meza (born March 18, 1956), also known for his nickname Kid Meza, is a Mexican former professional boxer who was world Super Bantamweight champion. Meza was born in Mexicali, Mexico. Short biography Mesa was born Jesus Fernández. Prior to beginning his career, and for undisclosed reasons, he changed his name officially to Juan Meza. Hilario Zapata (born August 19, 1958) is a Panamanian former professional boxer. He held the WBC light flyweight and WBA flyweight titles, and challenged once for the WBC super flyweight title.
