RingSide Steakhouse
RingSide Steakhouse is a restaurant located in Portland, Oregon. History The RingSide has been one of the city's most famous steakhouses for more than 60 years, and in addition to the original location on West Burnside Street has opened a second restaurant on the East side of the Willamette River. The name refers to the establishment's boxing decor theme. In 2010, the restaurant temporarily moved the original location to the Fox Tower while the Burnside location was remodeled. A year later, they opened RingSide Fish House at the Fox Tower location. The east side location at the Glendoveer Golf Course was set to close for a remodel in January 2015. The Glendoveer location reopened as the Ringside Grill. The Ringside Grill's last day of business was August 30, 2017. Burnside Street is a major thoroughfare of Portland, in the U.S. state of Oregon, and one of a few east–west streets that runs uninterrupted on both sides of the Willamette River. It serves as the dividing line between North Portland and South Portland. Its namesake bridge, Burnside Bridge, is one of the most heavily traversed in Portland. RingSide Fish House was a seafood restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Description Mattie John Bamman of ''Eater Portland'' described RingSide Fish House as an "old-school" seafood restaurant, located in the Fox Tower next to southwest Portland's Director Park. The menu included oysters, Crab Louie, lobster, and cioppino. History In 2011, the owner of RingSide Steakhouse confirmed plans to convert a temporary Fox Tower location into a seafood restaurant. The 240-seat restaurant opened on the building's second floor on July 18, 2011, with Johnny Nunn as the initial executive chef. USS ''Glendoveer'' (SP-292) was a United States Navy patrol vessel in commission from 1917 to 1919. ''Glendoveer'' was built as a civilian vessel of the same name in 1907 by the Jahncke Navigation Company at New Orleans, Louisiana. The U.S. Navy purchased her from her owner, Ernest L. Fox Tower
The Fox Tower is a 27-story, office skyscraper in downtown Portland, Oregon, along Broadway between Yamhill and Morrison streets. The tower was completed in 2000 at a cost of $64 million, and was named after the Fox Theatre that occupied the site from 1911 until the late 1990s. TVA Architects designed the building and Tom Moyer developed the property. History Original designs for the tower included seven floors of above-ground parking. Plans for the above-ground parking levels were removed in 1998 to add space for what was originally to be a movie theater operated by Act III Theaters.
