Rimavská Sobota District
Rimavská Sobota District (''okres Rimavská Sobota'') is a district in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia. The district was first established in 1923 and from 1996 exists in its present borders. The population density is approximately half of Slovakia average. The seat is its biggest town Rimavská Sobota. District north is more industrial, while district south more agricultural area. Rimavská Sobota District consists of 107 municipalities, from which Rimavská Sobota, Hnúšťa and Tisovec have the town status. Districts Of Slovakia
The districts of Slovakia are administrative units known as in the Slovak language. It is a second-tier territorial administrative unit, below a Region () in standing, and superior to a municipality (). Each district contains at least several municipalities. The cities of Bratislava and Košice are the only cities in Slovakia divided into internal urban districts, with five in Bratislava, and four in Košice. These urban districts are then further divided into smaller boroughs (which serve a function analogous to municipalities in typical districts). All other districts are larger in size and also include rural areas, and rural as well as urban municipalities. Each of these more typical districts has an urban centre serving as the seat of the district, usually the largest town (or the only town) of a given district. Blhovce
Blhovce (, formerly: ) is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia. History In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1244 (1244 ''Bolug'', 1427 ''Balogfalva'') . In 1427 it belonged to the paladin Juraj of Ratold. In the 16th century it belong to Feledyi and Perényi families. During the 16th century it suffered because of Turks and during the 17th century due to the Polish-Lithuanian war. In the 18th century it passed to the Koháry family and to several zemans. Drňa
Drňa () is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia. History In history, historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1245 when it was founded (1246 ''Darna'', 1380 ''Dranya'', 1431 ''Darnia''). In the 15th century it belonged to nobles Janosy. In the 16th century, it was attacked by the Ottoman Empire, Turks and in 1566-67 it had to pay them a tribute. From 1938 to 1945, it belonged to Hungary. Drienčany
Drienčany () is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia. History In historical records from the Kingdom of Hungary, the village was first mentioned in 1291 (''Drenchen'') when it was owned by the ''gens'' Balog. Later the Hungarian Derencsényi family obtained the lordship. The castle had been built here and it until the end of 17th century. In the 15th century the castle was conquered by John Jiskra. In 16th century Drienčany had been devastated, village became populated in the beginning of 18th century. Inhabitants had been engaged in agriculture, basketry, wax production and livestock breeding. Dražice (, formerly: ) is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia. History In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1323 (1323 ''Peryese'', 1393 ''Peryeze''), when it belonged to Blh Castle. Dolné Zahorany
Dolné Zahorany (earlier: ''Maďarské Záhorany''; ) is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia. Číž
Číž () is a spa village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia. History In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1274 (as ''Chyz''). It first belonged to the Tukovci (Tuky) family and later to several zeman families. In 1566 and 1682, the village was destroyed by the Turks. From 1938 to 1945, Číž was occupied by Hungary under the First Vienna Award. Čerenčany
Čerenčany (earlier ''Cšerencšány''; ), is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia. During the past several years the village recorded a growth in population, due to which new houses and condominiums were built.
