Rim Jong-sim (wrestler)
Rim Jong-sim (born 25 April 1994) is a North Korean freestyle wrestler. She won one of the bronze medals in the women's freestyle 62kg event at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Career At the 2016 Asian Wrestling Championships The 2016 Asian Wrestling Championships was held at the Thai-Japanese Stadium, Bangkok Youth Center in Bangkok, Thailand. The event took place from February 17 to February 21, 2016. Amateur wrestling is a variant of wrestling practiced in collegiate, school, or other amateur level competitions. is a Japanese freestyle wrestler. She won the gold medal in the women's 62 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. In 2018, she won the silver medal in the women's 62 kg event at the World Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, Hungary. A year later, she won one of the bronze medals in this event. Career In 2017, she competed in the women's 63 kg event at the World Wrestling Championships in Paris, France without winning a medal. She won her first match against Elmira Gambarova but she was eliminated from the competition in her next match against Jackeline Rentería of Colombia. Rentería went on to win one of the bronze medals. Freestyle wrestling is a style of wrestling originated from Great Britain and the United States. Along with Greco-Roman, it is one of the two styles of wrestling contested in the Olympic Games. American high school and men's college wrestling is conducted under different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling. American collegiate women's wrestling is conducted under freestyle rules. Freestyle wrestling, like collegiate wrestling, has its greatest origins in catch-as-catch-can wrestling. In both styles the ultimate goal is to throw and pin the opponent to the mat, which results in an immediate win.
