Riley Thilthorpe
Riley Thilthorpe (born 7 July 2002) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by the Adelaide Football Club with the 2nd draft pick in the 2020 AFL draft. AFL career Thilthorpe debuted in round 6 of the 2021 AFL season, as he was impressive with 16 disposals and kicked 5 goals. His 5 goals is the highest ever by a Crows debutant. Jason Dunstall commented, "the emergence of a future star." In round 13, against St Kilda, Thilthorpe kicked the match winning goal over his head on his opposite boot in the last minute of the game. It completed Adelaide's 36-point comeback. Thilthorpe was rewarded with the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination for Round 13. The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. It was first presented in the 1993 season, and was won by Nathan Buckley, playing for the Brisbane Bears. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star has been awarded the Ron Evans Medal since 2007, named in honour of the former AFL Commission chairman following his death that year. The award was sponsored by Norwich Union Australia from its inception in 1993 until 2000. Jason Hadfield Dunstall (born 14 August 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Dunstall is arguably the greatest Australian rules footballer to come from Queensland. Dunstall was one of the first of a generation of big bodied lead-up full forwards who could also out-wrestle opponents for position in a marking contest and was also an agile team oriented player. He made his name as a full-forward during an era in which power forwards including Tony Lockett, Gary Ablett Sr., Simon Beasley, Warwick Capper, Allen Jakovich, Saverio Rocca, John Longmire, Tony Modra and Peter Sumich dominated the league goal scoring.
