Stoner Metal
Stoner rock, also known as stoner metal or stoner doom, is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of doom metal with psychedelic rock and acid rock. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep. Characteristics Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo and features a heavily distorted, groove-laden bass-heavy sound, melodic vocals, and "retro" production. Due to the similarities between stoner and sludge metal, there is often a crossover between the two genres. This hybrid has traits of both styles, but generally lacks stoner metal's laid back atmosphere and its usage of psychedelia. Bands such as Weedeater, High on Fire and Electric Wizard creatively fuse both styles. Terminology The descriptor "stoner rock" may originate from the title of the 1997 Roadrunner Records compilation ''Burn One Up! Music for Stoners''. Desert rock is also used interchangeably as a descriptor, and was coined by a MeteorCity Records intern, ...

Solace is an American heavy metal band from the Asbury Park, New Jersey. This idea was reaffirmed by iTunes.com in 2010 when they voted the band's third studio album ''A.D.'' "2010 Metal Album of the Year". However, their live performances at stoner rock festivals such as America's Emissions from the Monolith and Europe's Roadburn Festival, have rooted them just as deeply in that genre. Train Kept A-Rollin'
"Train Kept A-Rollin'" (or "The Train Kept A-Rollin'") is a song first recorded by American jazz and rhythm and blues musician Tiny Bradshaw in 1951. Originally performed in the style of a jump blues, Bradshaw borrowed lyrics from an earlier song and set them to an upbeat shuffle arrangement that inspired other musicians to perform and record it. Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio made an important contribution in 1956 – they reworked it as a guitar riff-driven song, which features an early use of intentionally distorted guitar in rock music. In 1965, the Yardbirds popularized the song as an early psychedelic blues rock song, due largely to Jeff Beck's fuzz-toned guitar work. Theirs soon became the most copied arrangement with recordings by a variety of musicians. After guitarist Jimmy Page joined the group, the Yardbirds recorded an updated version with new lyrics as "Stroll On" for the film '' Blowup'' in 1966. With a highly charged rhythm section and a dual lea ...

The Want (NJ Band)
The Want was an American stoner/ blues rock band from Union, New Jersey. History The Want put out two albums in the 90s but are best remembered for their "greatest hits" compilation on Southern Lord Records released in 2000.
