Riga Film Studio
Riga Film Studio ( lv, Rīgas kinostudija, russian: Рижская киностудия, Rizhskaya kinostudiya) is a Latvian film production company based in Riga and founded in 1940 on the basis of the earlier private film companies. In 1948, the Riga Documentary Film Studio was founded. In 1970–80, the company produced 10-15 films a year, providing work for 1,000 employees. Currently, there are no major filmings. The studio earns by leasing its facilities, offering expert services, and licensing films to distribution in Riga. In 2007, a bill was rejected by the Council of Ministers of Latvia to privatize 125 films by RFS, they are still the State property. Riga District ( lv, Rīgas rajons) was an Districts of Latvia, administrative division of Latvia, located in Semigallia and Vidzeme regions, in the centre of the country. The district had the two cities of Riga and Jūrmala with the Gulf of Riga to the north. Beginning from the west and counterclockwise to the east, Riga District had Tukums District, Tukums, Jelgava District, Jelgava, Bauska District, Bauska, Ogre District, Ogre, Cēsis District, Cēsis and Limbaži District, Limbaži former districts as neighbours. The area of the district was 3,058 km² with a population of 159,247. Riga District was one of the largest regions of Latvia, it was strategically important and also had some of the most developed infrastructure in Latvia.
