Albrecht Riethmüller
Albrecht Riethmüller (born 21 January 1947) is a German musicologist. Life Born in 1947 in Stuttgart, Riethmüller studied musicology, philosophy and modern German literature at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, where he received his doctorate in 1974 from Hans Heinrich Eggebrecht with the dissertation ''Die Musik als Abbild der Realität'', and habilitated in 1984 with his study on ''Ferruccio Busoni's Poetik''. He first took a guest professorship at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (1983), and held substitute professorships at the universities of Heidelberg, (1984/85) and Frankfurt (1986). Riethmüller held additional teaching positions at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg (1985–87) and at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (1994). Frank Riethmuller (1884–1965) was an Australian rose breeder. Biography Toowoomba The last child of poor German immigrant farmers, Francis Lewis Riethmuller (known as Frank) was born on 10 February 1884 in Glenvale, then a village near (now a suburb of) Toowoomba, Queensland. When dealing with Germans, he reverted to writing Riethmüller. In Australia, the first syllable is pronounced Reith but never spelt that way. Chronically prone to bronchitis and bronchiectasis, Riethmuller had to live mostly outdoors. First educated at Glenvale primary school, he spent two years as a state scholarship pupil at Toowoomba Grammar: every surname in the class was Anglo-Celtic except his. He worked 1899–1905 as a "pupil school teacher" at Gowrie Junction, Glenvale and Charters Towers, a gold-mining town. Joel Riethmuller (born 9 May 1985) is an Italy international rugby league footballer who previously played professionally for the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League. Background Riethmuller was born in Tully, Queensland, Australia. Playing career Riethmuller played his junior football for the Tully Tigers. Before playing for the Cowboys, he played for the Ipswich Jets and the Northern Pride in the Queensland Cup. He made his NRL debut against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in round 14 of the 2011 season, at the age of 26, having broken into the Cowboys' first-grade squad after performing well in the Queensland Cup.
