Rieke Diah Pitaloka
Rieke Diah Pitaloka Intan Purnamasari or better known as Rieke Diah Pitaloka (born in Garut, West Java, Indonesia on January 8, 1974) is an Indonesian actress, author, and politician of Sundanese people, Sundanese descent. She is currently serving as a member of the People's Representative Council from Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. Education Pitaloka graduated from University of Indonesia with a bachelor's degree in Dutch literature. She also holds another bachelor's degree in philosophy from STF Driyakara. In 2007, she received master's degree in philosophy from University of Indonesia. The thesis she wrote for fulfilling graduate research requirement was published into a book called ''Kekerasan Negara Menular ke Masyarakat''. Garut
Garut is a district and town in West Java of Indonesia, and the former capital of Garut Regency. It is located about 75 km to the southeast of the major city of Bandung. History The modern history of Garut started on March 2, 1811 when Balubur Limbangan Regency was dissolved by Governor General Herman Willem Daendels, because the area's production of coffee had decreased and the Regent, Tumenggung Wangsakusumah II had refused a command to plant indigo. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle ( id, Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan, PDI-P) is an Indonesian political party, and the party of the current President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. The PDI-P was founded and is currently led by Megawati Sukarnoputri, president of Indonesia from 2001 to 2004, and daughter of Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia. Megawati was forced out from the leadership of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) by the government of Indonesia under Suharto in 1996. Megawati formed the PDI-P in 1999, after Suharto resigned and restrictions on political parties were lifted.
