William Ernest Reigel (May 3, 1932 – October 17, 1993) was an American basketball player and coach. He played college basketball at Duke University and McNeese State University, leading McNeese to the 1956 NAIA championship. Reigel went on to choose the Amateur Athletic Union over an offer from the NBA's Minneapolis Lakers The Los Angeles Lakers franchise has a long and storied history, predating the formation of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Ella Riegel (1867 - January 20, 1937) was an American suffragist and women's rights activist. Riegel was a graduate of the first class of Bryn Mawr College and would remain associated with the college the rest of her life. Biography Regel was born in 1866 in Pennsylvania. Riegel was part of the first class of Bryn Mawr College and graduated in 1889. She became interested in anthropology and archaeology. Riegel was also good with finances and made money through investing in stocks. Riegel promoted the cause of women's suffrage in many different ways. She was first part of the Congressional Union for Woman's Suffrage, where she served on their finance committee. Later, she joined the National Woman's Party (NWP). Franz Riegel (9 February 1843 – 26 August 1904) was a German internist and gastroenterologist who was a native of Brückenau. He studied medicine at the University of Würzburg, and following graduation furthered his studies in Vienna with Johann von Oppolzer (1808–1871). Afterwards he returned to Würzburg as an assistant to Heinrich von Bamberger (1822–1888), and later Carl Gerhardt (1833–1902). In 1871 he was a lecturer of experimental pathology at the University of Würzburg, and in 1874 became director of the Cologne city hospital. In 1879 he was appointed to the chair of medicine at the University of Giessen, where he would remain until his death in 1904. Johannes Peter "Hans" Riegel, also known as Hans Riegel Jr. (10 March 1923 – 15 October 2013), was a German entrepreneur who owned and operated the confectioner Haribo since 1946. Biography Born in Bonn, Riegel was the oldest son of the company's founder Hans Riegel Sr., who invented the gummy bear in 1922. Jan Riegel (born 3 August 1980) is a Czech former professional football player, who made over 200 appearances in the Czech First League. Riegel represented the Czech Republic at under-21 level, making three appearances between 2001 and 2002. Robert Henry "Skee" Riegel (November 25, 1914 – February 22, 2009) was an American professional golfer. Riegel attended West Point, Hobart College, and Lafayette College where he played football and baseball but not golf. He took up golf at the age of 23. During World War II, he was a flying instructor for the US Army Air Corp in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Riegel won the 1947 U.S. Amateur over Johnny Dawson at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, 2 and 1. He played on the Walker Cup teams of 1947 and 1949 under captain as Francis Ouimet. He went undefeated in his four Walker Cup matches.
