Riddells Creek is a town in Victoria, Australia, located in Wurundjeri Country and the Shire of Macedon Ranges. It is located in between the cities of Bendigo and Melbourne. Riddells Creek is also the name of the main watercourse which flows through the township, and which is a tributary of Jacksons Creek to the south. John Carre Riddell
John Carre Riddell (4 June 1809 – 22 December 1879) was a politician in colonial Victoria (Australia), a member of the Victorian Legislative Council and later, the Victorian Legislative Assembly. Riddell (pronounced ''Riddle'') was born in Linthill, Lilliesleaf, Roxburghshire, Scotland, the third son of Thomas Riddell, of Camieston, and his wife Jane, ''née'' Ferrier. Riddell was educated at the High School, Edinburgh, and at the University of Edinburgh. He arrived in Sydney aboard the ''Abberton'' on 20 August 1839 with his cousin Thomas Ferrier Hamilton and the pair rode to Melbourne the following month. Riddell was a nominated member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 21 June 1852 until the original Council was abolished in March 1856. He succeeded Charles Griffith. Kyneton, Victoria
Kyneton ( ) is a town in the Macedon Ranges region of Victoria, Australia. The Calder Freeway bypasses Kyneton to the north and east. Kyneton is on Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country. The town has four main streets: Mollison Street, Main street, Piper Street and High Street. Piper Street has the oldest streetscape of these, and still has many of its original buildings. Thomas Ferrier Hamilton
Thomas Ferrier Hamilton (31 March 1820 – 7 August 1905) was an Australian politician, pastoralist, and sportsman. A grandson of the 2nd Viscount Gort, he was born in Linlithgowshire, Scotland, but emigrated to Australia in 1839. Hamilton and his cousin, John Carre Riddell, owned a pastoral lease near Gisborne, Victoria. A local magistrate and justice of the peace, he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council in 1872, sitting as a member for the Southern Province until 1884. He also sat on the Gisborne Road Board, including as chairman for a time. A member (and twice president) of the Melbourne Cricket Club, Hamilton was a keen cricketer, and played several matches for Victorian representative teams, including the inaugural first-class match in Australia. Kulin Nation
The Kulin nation is an alliance of five Aboriginal nations in south central Victoria, Australia. Their collective territory extends around Port Phillip and Western Port, up into the Great Dividing Range and the Loddon and Goulburn River valleys. Before British colonisation, the tribes spoke five related languages. These languages are spoken by two groups: the Eastern Kulin group of Woiwurrung, Boonwurrung, Taungurung and Ngurai-illam-wurrung; and the western language group of just Wathaurung. Bendigo Railway Line
The Deniliquin railway line (also known as the Echuca railway line) is a broad-gauge railway line serving northwestern Victoria, Australia. The Jackson Creek (sometimes incorrectly spelled as Jacksons Creek) is a watercourse of the Port Phillip catchment, located in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne, in the Australian state of Victoria. Wurundjeri
The Wurundjeri people are an Australian Aboriginal people of the Woiwurrung language group, in the Kulin nation. They are the Traditional Owners of the Birrarung (Yarra River) Valley, covering much of the present location of Narrm (Melbourne). They continue to live in this area and throughout Australia. They were called the Yarra tribe by early European colonists. The Wurundjeri Tribe Land and Compensation Cultural Heritage Council was established in 1985 by Wurundjeri people.
