Riddell Baronets
There have been three baronetcies created for people with the surname Riddell, one in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia, one in the Baronetage of Great Britain and one in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. As of 2014 one creation is extant. The Riddell Baronetcy, of Riddell in the County of Roxburgh, was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 14 May 1628 for John Riddell. Sir John Riddell's lands were erected into the barony and regality of New Riddell. Sir John's third son, William, was knighted by Charles I and later served in the Eighty Years' War also known as the Netherlands' War of Independence. The Reverend Archibald Riddell, the third son of the second Baronet, was a minister of the reformed church in Edinburgh who was persecuted and imprisoned because he would not renounce his Covenanter beliefs; unlike many others, however, he escaped with his life. Richard Riddell
Richard V. Riddell is an American lighting designer. He graduated from Knox College with a B.A. with honors in 1972. In 1978, he received his doctorate from Stanford University. He has had extensive teaching experience, working at such schools as the University of California, San Diego, Harvard University. He finally moved to Duke University, where he became vice president as well as university secretary and assistant to the president, Richard H. Brodhead. Riddell has also worked on numerous shows, including two Broadway shows: '' A Walk in the Woods'' and '' Big River''. He mostly designed lighting for the shows, but occasionally dabbled in scenic design. Ray Riddell
Norman Raymond Riddell (26 March 1918 – 10 November 2013) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1940s. Riddell's VFL career was limited due to the war, as he was at the time a Leading Aircraftman with the RAAF. He played twice in the 1944 VFL season and his only appearance in 1945 was a preliminary final, which Collingwood lost. Riddell played in two further games in 1946. Rachel Riddell
Rachel Riddell (born September 5, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian water polo goaltender. She participated at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Life Riddell was a student at Loyola Marymount University, and Concordia University. She was part of the 4th place women's water polo team at the 2003 world championships in Barcelona, Spain. She was awarded best goalkeeper at the 2003 World Junior Championships in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, when the Canadian team won the gold medal. Since 2003 Rachel Riddell has been a member of Canada's senior women's water polo team. At the 2005 Fina aquatic games, in Montreal, Canada, she won acclaim for her play in the bronze medal winning game for Canada. In 2006, she helped Canada win silver at the Commonwealth games in Melbourne, Australia. Sir Peter John Robert Riddell (born 14 October 1948) is a British journalist and author. He worked for the ''Financial Times'' from 1970 to 1991. From April 2016 to September 2021 he served as the British government's Commissioner for Public Appointments, and is the former director of the Institute for Government. Norman Grey Riddell MM (1887 – 15 June 1918) was an English professional footballer who played as a left back in the Football League for Clapton Orient. Personal life Prior to the First World War, Riddell worked for the North Eastern Railway. He served as a colour sergeant in the Northumberland Fusiliers during the First World War. In December 1917, Riddell was awarded the Military Medal "for having rallied and led his men after his sergeants and corporals had become casualties and subsequently dealt with an enemy sniper who was causing heavy casualties during the advance". Neil Anthony Riddell (born 16 July 1947) is a former English cricketer. Riddell was a left-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born at Staindrop, County Durham. Early career Riddell made his debut for Durham in the 1972 Minor Counties Championship against Cumberland. He played Minor counties cricket for Durham throughout the remainder of the 1970s. Michael Riddell (23 March 1953 – 26 March 2022) was a New Zealand Christian minister and writer. Early life Riddell was born in Porirua East (now Cannons Creek), New Zealand, and began schooling at Porirua East Primary School. He was the youngest of a family of four, with two sisters and a brother. His family moved to Christchurch, where he continued schooling at Northcote Primary School, while living near the Styx River. Secondary schooling took place at Christchurch Boys' High School, complete with Army Cadets and regular rugby. In the sixth form, he switched from sciences to arts. Mark Robert Riddell (born 9 December 1980) is an Australian rugby league commentator and former professional player who played as a in the 2000s and 2010s.
