Rick Priestley
Rick Priestley (born 29 March 1959) is a British game designerSlingshot, No279, Nov 2011, p1 and author mainly known as the creator of ''Warhammer'' miniature wargame. Career Rick Priestley, with Bryan Ansell and Richard Halliwell, designed the Fantasy miniature wargame ''Warhammer Fantasy Battle'' for Games Workshop. The company released the game in 1983. Priestley also developed a science fiction counterpart for this wargame, which was released as '' Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader'' in October 1987. Priestley, with Andy Jones and Marc Gascoigne of ''Warhammer'', developed the idea for the Black Library which, as a result, produced the magazine ''Inferno!'' (July 1997–November 2004). In 2000, Priestley designed the 6mm-scale mass combat Fantasy wargame ''Warmaster''. Rick left Games Workshop in 2009, complaining that the corporate culture had grown too focused on sales and no longer cared about innovation in game design. ''Bolt Action'' is a miniature wargame produced by Warlord Games. It is set during World War II and uses 28mm-sized models. The game was developed by Alessio Cavatore and Rick Priestley. The first edition of the rulebook was published in 2012, and the second edition was published in 2016. Alessio Cavatore is a game designer. Early life and education Alessio Cavatore was born in Turin, Italy, on Valentine's Day, 1972. Career In 1995 Cavatore moved to Nottingham (U.K.) to work for Games Workshop. He wrote several supplements for ''Warhammer Fantasy Battle'' before heading up the ''Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game''. Necromunda
''Necromunda'' is a skirmish tabletop war game produced by Games Workshop since 1995. It has been relaunched as ''Necromunda: Underhive'' in 2017. In ''Necromunda'', players control rival gangs battling each other in the Underhive, a place of anarchy and violence in the depths below the Hive City. As in its parent game ''Warhammer 40,000'', ''Necromunda'' uses 28 mm miniatures (approximately 1:56) and terrain (in this case, the Underhive – a heavily polluted, underground industrial environment). Necromunda allows players to develop their gangs between battles, gaining experience, gaining and losing new members or equipment, according to a set of rules. Gavin Thorpe
Gavin Thorpe is a game designer who has worked primarily on board games. He has also authored a number of novels and short stories for the Black Library. Career Gav Thorpe has been designing and developing products for Games Workshop since 1994. His credits include the ''Inquisitor'' skirmish game, as well as work on several editions of ''Warhammer'' and ''Warhammer 40,000'', and supplements for both game systems. Andy Chambers (born 20 October 1966) is an English author and game designer best known for his work on over 30 Games Workshop rulebooks and sourcebooks. Personal life In 2003, he married Jessica Chambers after they met at KublaCon 2002. Career Chambers is best known for his work for Games Workshop, where he worked from March 1990 to March 2004. He worked extensively on various ''Warhammer 40,000'' rulebooks and sourcebooks, and also authored multiple fiction novels set in the same universe. Chambers was the lead designer on a number of ''Warhammer'' ''40,000'' spin-off games, such as Necromunda (1995) and Battlefleet Gothic (1999), produced by Specialist Games. Alan And Michael Perry
Alan and Michael Perry (born 1961) are former Citadel Miniatures designers, and two of the most renowned and prolific sculptors for the miniature wargaming hobby. They worked for Games Workshop from 1978 until 2014, and during that time worked on most of the company's miniature ranges. In addition, they were former sculptors for Wargames Foundry, helped found Warhammer Historical Wargames and now run the relatively new company "Perry miniatures", for which they produce historical miniatures. They have also taken part in reenactments of historical battles and have illustrated a number of books on military history for Osprey Publishing. They currently live in Nottingham, England. Jervis Johnson
Jervis Johnson (born 12 June 1959) is an English tabletop game designer. He worked as a designer and manager for Games Workshop for over 38 years, and was the head of its Specialist Games studio. In addition to his work on Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Warhammer 40,000, he created the fantasy football game Blood Bowl, and co-created Epic 40,000, Necromunda, and Age of Sigmar. Career Johnson joined Games Workshop as a Trade Sales Assistant in 1982. In 1986, he began writing rules for the company's own games, writing the first edition of Blood Bowl in his spare time. He was a playtester for Rogue Trader, the first version of Warhammer 40,000. ''Terror of the Lichemaster'' is a board game published by Games Workshop in 1986 as a mini-campaign for ''Warhammer Fantasy Battle''. Games Workshop also offered related metal miniatures that could be purchased for use with the scenarios.
