Richmond Strikers
Richmond Strikers is a sports club based in Henrico County, near Richmond, Virginia. The Strikers' team colors are orange, white, and black. The Strikers are a multi-sport club and offer soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, cricket, and rugby. The Strikers have over 6,000 members from travel soccer, recreation, adult league and all other sports. The Strikers are also the host of the Jefferson Cup, one of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the United States. Club history The Strikers were formed in 1975 as Three Chopt Soccer Association. In 1986, they adopted the Strikers name. In 2006, the Strikers merged with Virginia Capital Area Soccer League (CASL), making the Strikers one of the largest clubs in Virginia. In 2010, they announced a working relationship with the Premier League club, Arsenal. In 2015, the Strikers announced the addition of girls lacrosse and field hockey. Henrico County , officially the County of Henrico, is located in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 334,389 making it the fifth-most populous county in Virginia. Henrico County is included in the Greater Richmond Region. There is no incorporated community within Henrico County; therefore, there is no incorporated county seat either. Laurel, an unincorporated CDP, serves this function. Joseph Haboush (born August 28, 1990) is an American former soccer player who played as a midfielder. He is of Lebanese descent. Career Early career Haboush started his youth playing career with the Richmond Strikers Under-16 Academy and the Elite Under-18 Academy before playing Division 1 college soccer with the VCU Rams of the Virginia Commonwealth University from 2008 to 2012. While at VCU Haboush made 56 appearances for the soccer team and scored three goals at the same time along with 10 assists. William Pulisic (born April 16, 1998) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Minnesota United 2 in the MLS Next Pro. Youth career Pulisic had played for Richmond United in his youth career. He, like his cousin Christian, who used to play at Borussia Dortmund, played with the Borussia Dortmund U19 team, making 8 appearances. Brandon Pollard (born October 9, 1973, in Richmond, Virginia) is a retired American soccer player who played as a defender. He is probably best known for having his career ended by a vicious tackle from Dema Kovalenko. Pollard was a standout player with the University of Virginia and was a member of the United States men's national soccer team at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Brian Tyler Ownby (born July 16, 1990) is an American soccer player who currently plays for Louisville City in the USL Championship. Early life Personal Ownby was born in Glen Allen, Virginia to parents Steve and Andrea Ownby and has a younger brother named Eric. He first played competitive soccer with the Academy and Travel teams of the Richmond Strikers. Bradley Burton Knighton (born February 6, 1985) is an American former professional soccer player. College and amateur soccer Knighton played four years of college soccer at UNC-Wilmington as well as for Indiana Invaders in the USL Premier Development League.
