Crest Hill, Illinois
Crest Hill is a city in Lockport Township, Will County, Illinois, United States. The 2020 census put Crest Hill's population at 20,459. The neighborhood of Stern Park Gardens, later incorporated with Crest Hill, renamed itself Lidice in 1942 following the Lidice massacre. Former presidential candidate Wendell Willkie and Czechoslovak president-in-exile Edvard Beneš spoke at the dedication commemorating the tragedy. Geography Crest Hill is located at (41.5645, -88.1089). Crest Hill decided to incorporate itself to avoid being annexed by the City of Joliet and became officially incorporated as the City of Crest Hill January 22, 1960. Lockport Township High School (LTHS) is a public high school in Lockport, Illinois, United States. In addition to the city of Lockport and Lockport Township, Lockport Township High School also serves the communities of Homer Glen, most of Crest Hill, a section of unincorporated Orland Park and Homer Township. Over 3,900 students are enrolled in grades 9 through 12. Campuses Lockport Township High School is made up of two different campuses, Central and East. Central campus Central campus is on 1222 S Jefferson St, Lockport, IL. It was built in 1909 and has had many major renovations over its 110 year lifespan, including the addition of an indoor swimming pool, 2 gymnasiums, auditorium, cafeteria, library, and 100+ more classrooms. Joliet Catholic Academy (Joliet Catholic or JCA) is a coed Catholic high school in Joliet, Illinois. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet. One of the oldest Catholic high schools in the Chicago area, Joliet Catholic is perhaps best known for its prowess in football. Since the advent of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) state football playoffs in 1974, JCA has won more state football titles than any other team in the state, with 15 as of 11/26/2021. The modern school is the result of a merger between the all-girls St. Francis Academy and the all-male Joliet Catholic High School, which was formerly known as DeLaSalle High School for Boys.
