Richie Moore
Richard L. Moore (born 1945) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'4" guard, he played college basketball for one season at Villanova before becoming academically ineligible and transferring to Hiram Scott College for his final two years. During his senior season he averaged 38.8 points per game. Following his college career, he worked out several times with the Philadelphia 76ers before signing with the San Diego Rockets in May 1967. After being released by San Diego in the fall, he signed with the Denver Rockets of the American Basketball Association. He played for Denver during the 1967–68 season, where he averaged 3.8 and 1.1 rebounds points per game before being released in December 1967. The 1967 NBA draft was the 21st annual draft of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The draft was held on May 3 and 4, 1967 before the 1967–68 season. In this draft, 12 NBA teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players. A player who had finished his four-year college eligibility was eligible for selection. If a player left college early, he would not be eligible for selection until his college class graduated. The first two picks in the draft belonged to the teams that finished last in each division, with the order determined by a coin flip. The Detroit Pistons won the coin flip and were awarded the first overall pick, while the Baltimore Bullets were awarded the second pick. 1967–68 Denver Rockets Season
The 1967–68 ABA season was the inaugural season of the American Basketball Association and the Denver Rockets. This was the first professional basketball played in Denver since the original Denver Nuggets disbanded in 1950. They finished 45-33, which was good enough to qualify for a playoff spot, as the third team out of four. They lost in the first round.
