Richard Stockton (October 1, 1730 – February 28, 1781) was an American Founding Father, lawyer, jurist, legislator, and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Early life Stockton was the son of John Stockton (1701–1758), a wealthy landowner who donated land and helped bring what is now Princeton University (then known as the College of New Jersey, located in Newark) to Princeton, New Jersey. He was born at the Stockton family home now known as Morven in the Stony Brook neighborhood of Princeton. He attended Samuel Finley's academy at Nottingham, which later became West Nottingham Academy, and the College of New Jersey located in Newark, graduating in 1748. He studied law with David Ogden of Newark, who was at that time the head of the legal profession in the province. Stockton was admitted to the bar in 1754 and soon rose to great distinction. Richard Franklin Stockton (Akron, Ohio February 3, 1932 – April 5, 1997) was an American playwright. He was the first American Playwright to receive a world premiere at the Abbey Theatre, Ireland’s National Theatre, for his play ''Prisoner of the Crown'', co-produced by Sir Alfred Drake. The play received its American premiere by the Repertory Company of the Virginia Museum Theater, under the title ''The Royal Rape of Ruari Macasmunde'', with Keith Fowler in the title role and under Alfred Drake's direction. The play dramatizes the jury deliberations in the treason trial of Roger Casement. He received his Bachelor's Degree at Akron University in 1954, followed by a Master's Degree in playwriting at UCLA in 1960 and a playwriting fellowship at the State University of Iowa. Richard Edward Stokvis (born November 22, 1942), known professionally as Dick Stockton, is an American retired sportscaster. Stockton began his career in Philadelphia, then moved to Pittsburgh, where he worked as the sports director for KDKA-TV. In Boston, he called Celtics games for WBZ-TV and Red Sox games for WSBK-TV before transitioning to national broadcasting, which included calling the 1975 World Series for NBC and later, the NBA Finals for CBS. In a career that spanned over five decades, Stockton worked for several different networks, most prominently CBS Sports, Fox Sports, and Turner Sports. Richard "Dick" LaClede Stockton (born February 18, 1951) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. In addition to his playing career, he was the head coach of the men's tennis team at the University of Virginia. for three years, from 1998-2001. Stockton also served as the Head Men's Tennis Coach at Piedmont College in Demorest, GA from 2018-2021. Stockton's highest world ranking was world No. 8.
