Richard Spanbauer
Richard Spanbauer (March 5, 1946) is a Wisconsin politician, legislator, and businessman. Born in New York City, Spanbauer graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1963 and served in the United States Marine Corps reserve from 1963 to 1969. Spanbauer went to Fox Valley Technical College and is a manufacturer and retailer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin Oshkosh is a city in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, of which it is the county seat. The 53rd Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in east-central Wisconsin, the district comprises most of the southern half of Winnebago County and parts of central Fond du Lac County, and includes city of Waupun, which extends into Dodge County. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. Algoma is a town in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 6,822 at the 2010 census. The unincorporated communities of Highland Shore, Leonards Point, Melrose Park, and Oakwood are located in the town. History The community was established in 1851 as "Wolf River", a loose translation of a native term. The town was renamed "Algoma" (native term for "park of flowers") in 1871. Over the years, the community has shifted from commercial fishing to tourism.
