Richard Sligh
Richard Ellis Sligh (August 18, 1944 – December 23, 1998Dates of birth and death for Richard E. Sligh per the United States Social Security Death Index) was an American football defensive tackle who played for the Oakland Raiders of the American Football League (AFL). Football career Sligh graduated from Gallman High School in Newberry, South Carolina and played college football at North Carolina Central University, where he was on Dean's List, for high academic achievement, as well as having a Biology Major and Chemistry Minor from 1962 to 1966. He was chosen in the 10th round of the 1967 NFL/AFL Draft as a defensive tackle. During his time in the league he played in a total of eight games. Sligh was a reserve for the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl II, when the Raiders fell to the Green Bay Packers. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. Dan Skipper (born September 20, 1994) is an American football offensive tackle for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Arkansas. High school career Skipper was born in Arvada, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. He played football at Ralston Valley High School, where he earned 5A all-state recognition as a senior. During his senior season, he helped get Ralston Valley to the state semifinals. Skipper received numerous scholarship offers for athletics only, ultimately choosing the University of Arkansas. College career As a freshman, Skipper played in all twelve of the Razorbacks' games, starting eight. He blocked three field goal attempts, a school single-season record. Morris Stroud
Morris Stroud Jr. (May 17, 1946 – October 17, 2016) was a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1969 to 1974. He did not play in the 1969 regular season but was on the roster for the 1969 AFL Championship Game. At 6 foot 10 inches tall, Stroud is believed to have been the tallest tight end, and the second tallest player at any position, in the history of the NFL. As a student at Clark Atlanta University, a historically black college in Atlanta, Georgia, the Miami, Florida-born Stroud was a center and power forward on the Panthers' basketball team. Despite Stroud having little experience in football, Chiefs head coach Hank Stram selected him in the third round of the 1969 NFL Draft as a tight end. In five seasons between 1970 and 1974, Stroud caught 54 passes for 977 yards, seven touchdowns, and averaged 18.1 yards per reception.
