Richard Schmidt (tennis)
Richard Schmidt (born January 31, 1965) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Biography Born in Chicago, Schmidt later moved to Madison, Wisconsin and was on the collegiate team at the University of Arkansas. He twice earned All-American honors while partnering Tim Siegel in doubles. The pair were semi-finalists in the 1986 NCAA Championships. From the start of 1987 he began competing on the professional circuit. As a qualifier at the 1988 Australian Open he pushed eighth seed Slobodan Živojinović to four sets in the first round, losing two of those sets in tiebreaks. At his only other appearance in the men's singles draw of a Grand Slam, the 1989 US Open, he squandered a two-set lead over Miguel Nido in the opening round, to lose in five. He continued to appear in the qualifying rounds of Grand Slams, including at Wimbledon, but was unable to make it through again, although he did manage to get past Pat Rafter in the 1992 US Open qualifiers. The ATP Challenger Tour, known until the end of 2008 as the ATP Challenger Series, is a series of international men's professional tennis tournaments. The Challenger Tour events are the second-highest tier of tennis competition, behind the ATP Tour. Petros "Pete" Sampras ( el, Πέτρος Σάμπρας; born August 12, 1971) is an American former world No. 1 tennis player. His professional career began in 1988 and ended at the 2002 US Open, which he won, defeating longtime rival Andre Agassi in the final. Derrick Rostagno
Derrick John Rostagno (born October 25, 1965) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Career Rostagno turned professional in 1986. He won one top-level singles title (at New Haven in 1990) and one tour doubles title (at Tampa in 1993). Rostagno's best performance at a Grand Slam event came at the 1988 US Open, where he reached the quarterfinals by beating Yahiya Doumbia, Martin Davis, Tim Mayotte and Ronald Agénor before being defeated by Ivan Lendl. At several other Grand Slam events, he defeated or almost defeated several tennis hall of famers. James Spencer "Jim" Courier (born August 17, 1970) is an American former world No. 1 tennis player. He won four major singles titles, two at the French Open and two at the Australian Open. Jeffrey Gail Tarango (born November 20, 1968) is a retired American tennis player. He was a top-ten doubles player and a runner-up at the 1999 French Open men's doubles tournament. He is now the Director of Tennis at the Jack Kramer Club, which is just south of Los Angeles. In 2018, he was the tournament director of a $30,000 men's California championships.
