Richard Roth (journalist)
Richard Roth (born 1955) is an American journalist, a CNN correspondent who covers the United Nations. He was the host of ''Diplomatic License'' (until its cancellation in January 2006), a weekly program that was devoted to United Nations affairs. Roth is a CNN "original" — one of the first employees when the television network, network launched in 1980. He has covered a wide range of stories over the last 25 years, from the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the first Gulf War. Richard Dale Roth (born November 6, 1950) is an American politician, currently serving in the California State Senate. A Democrat, he represents the 31st Senate District, encompassing northwestern Riverside County, including the cities of Corona, Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley, Norco, Perris, and Riverside. Prior to being elected to the state senate in 2012, Roth served as a major general in the United States Air Force, and as a practicing attorney. Early life Roth was born on November 6, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Ada High School (Ada, Ohio) in 1968, where he played in the band and was elected president of his junior class and the student council. He went on to Miami University (Ohio), majored in political science, minored in chemistry and enlisted in the ROTC program. Dick Roth
Richard William Roth (born September 26, 1947) is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in two events. He swam in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, where he won the gold medal for his first-place finish in the men's 400-meter individual medley, setting a new world record of 4:45.4 in the event final. Shortly before the individual medley final, Roth suffered an appendicitis, but refused an immediate operation.
