Richard Stephen Rose (March 14, 1917 – July 6, 2005) was an American mystic, esoteric philosopher, author, poet, and investigator of paranormal phenomena. He published a number of books and spoke widely in universities and other venues across the country during the 1970s and 1980s. Rose developed a system which he described as the "retreat from untruth" an examination of personal belief systems and lifestyles. In that system one discards what one finds to be false on a case-by-case basis. He believed a spiritual "Ultimate truth" exists and can be found for oneself with sufficient application of effort, and recommended skeptical approaches such as his. He studied human psychology, human weakness and human potential, then wrote challenges to psychology, psychiatry, religion, academia, the legal system, and the New Age movement. Richard Rose (political Scientist)
Richard Rose (born 9 April 1933 in St Louis, Missouri) is an American political scientist who has been a professor of politics in Scotland since 1966. His research has included the Northern Ireland conflict, enlargement of the European Union, democratisation, policy transfer, elections and voting. Education Rose studied as an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University. His doctorate at the University of Oxford, entitled ''The relation of socialist principles to British Labour foreign policy, 1945-51'', was completed in 1960. Academic career From 1961 to 1966, Rose was lecturer in government at the University of Manchester. Since 1966, he has been based in Scotland, mostly as professor of politics at the University of Strathclyde, where in 1976 he founded the Centre for the Study of Public Policy, of which he was director. Richard Rose (footballer)
Richard Alan Rose (born 8 September 1982) is an English professional footballer who plays for Hastings United. Rose plays as a defender and has been noted for his versatility having played in both the full back and centre back positions, and occasionally in central midfield. Playing career Rose was born in Tonbridge, Kent and joined Gillingham as a youth player. Whilst still a trainee he made his professional debut as a 14th minute substitute in Gillingham's 2–1 defeat at Crewe Alexandra on 16 April 2001. Rose went on to play in the final four games of the season in place of the injured Mark Patterson. Richard Rose (MP)
Richard Rose (died ca. 1658) was an English merchant and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1640 to 1648. He was the son of John Rose of Lyme Regis, Dorset and his wife Faith Ellesdon. He was a draper and became Lord of the Manor of Wootton Fitzpaine. In April 1640, Rose was elected Member of Parliament for Lyme Regis in the Short Parliament. He was re-elected MP for Lyme Regis for the Long Parliament in November 1640.
