Richard Henry Norton
Richard Henry Norton (November 6, 1849 – March 15, 1918) was a U.S. Representative from Missouri. Born in Troy, Missouri, Norton attended the common schools and Saint Louis University, where he took a classical course. He graduated from the law school of Washington University in St. Louis in 1870. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Troy, Missouri. Norton was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-first and Fifty-second Congresses (March 4, 1889 – March 3, 1893). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1892 to the Fifty-third Congress. He resumed the practice of law and also engaged in agricultural pursuits. He died in St. Louis, Missouri, March 15, 1918. He was interred in City Cemetery, Troy, Missouri Troy is a city in Lincoln County, Missouri, United States. As of 2019, the estimated population was 12,820. It is the county seat of Lincoln County. After high school, Norton worked as a bodyguard in the entertainment business before pursuing an acting career. He has attained a 10th Degree in Zen Do Kai, Australia. Richard Norton (February 9, 1872 – August 2, 1918) was the organizer and head of the American Volunteer Motor Ambulance Corps (also known as the Norton-Harjes Ambulance Corps), which served on the front in France in World War I from 1914 until it was taken over by the American Army in 1917. His Worship Richard Norton KS JP (died 1420) was a British justice. He was the son of Adam Conyers, who changed his name to Adam Norton when he married the heiress of Norton-on-Derwent in Yorkshire. Norton is first mentioned as an Advocate in 1399, and was created a Serjeant-at-law in 1401. On 4 June 1405 he was appointed to the trial of those involved in Richard le Scrope's rebellion, but was removed from the commission on 6 June. He served in 1406 as an Assize justice for the Palatinate of Durham, and in the same year was made a King's Serjeant. He was appointed as a justice for the Court of Common Pleas by Henry V on 23 May 1413, and Chief Justice a month later on 26 of June, becoming Chief justice of the Palatinate of Lancaster at around the same time. Sir Richard Norton, 1st Baronet (c. 1582 – June 1646) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1621 to 1622. He supported the Royalist cause in the English Civil War. In March 1608, Norton was set to join an embassy to Florence with the diplomat Stephen Lesieur. He was challenged to a duel by Henry Clare (a follower of the Earl of Montgomery) for wrongs done to his sister. Lesieur wrote to the Earl of Salisbury to prevent a fight.
