Richard Müller (chemist)
Richard Gustav Müller (17 July 1903 – 7 July 1999) was a German chemist. He and Eugene G. Rochow independently discovered the direct process of organosilicon compounds in 1941. That synthesis, also known as the ''Müller-Rochow process'' is the copper-catalysed reaction of chloromethane with silicon. Müller was awarded the National Prize of East Germany in 1952 for his work. Career Born in Hartha in the state of Saxony, Müller attended the Volksschule (equivalent to elementary and junior high school) in Hartha and the G.E. Lessing Gymnasium (secondary school) in Döbeln. After studying from 1923 to 1931 at the University of Leipzig, he received his doctorate in chemistry. From 1933 onwards he worked as a laboratory manager at Chemische Fabrik von Heyden, a large chemical plant located in Radebeul and famous as the world's first factory to produce salicylic acid on an industrial scale. Richard Müller (born 6 September 1961) is a Slovak singer, songwriter, and occasional actor. He is one of the most successful singers in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where he has sold more than one million records. Biography He started as a music journalist. In the beginning of the 1980s, while studying the theory of drama and screenplay at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), he started writing for the daily paper and the only specialized periodical at the time, ''Popular'', and, later, for ''Gramorevue''. As a journalist, in his own words, he could get close to the musicians he admired easier. His first song, ''Radio'', was recorded with the Burčiak Pavla Daněka band. The track was very successful in the music chart 5xp, which encouraged Müller to start a band with Martin Karvaš, it was called Banket. Richard Müller (9 December 1880 – 11 May 1943) was a German socialist, metal worker, union shop steward, and later historian. Trained as a lathe-operator, Müller later became an industrial unionist and organizer of mass-strikes against World War I. In 1918 he was a leading figure of the council movement in the German Revolution. In the 1920s he wrote a three-volume history of the German Revolution. Early life Born in a small village called Weira in the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, in what today is the German state of Thuringia, Müller left home and started working in the metal-industry after his father died in 1896. He became a lathe operator and around 1906 a member of the Deutscher Metallarbeiter-Verband (DMV), the German metalworkers union. Richard A. Muller (born October 12, 1948, in Flushing, New York) is one of the most famous American historical theologians. Life Muller obtained his B.A. in History from Queens College, City University of New York in 1969, his M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary, New York in 1972, and his Ph.D. in Reformation studies from Duke University in 1976. He has taught at Fuller Theological Seminary (1980–1992), has been awarded a Mellon Post-Doctoral Research Grant and has held the Belle van Zuylenleerstoel at Utrecht University (1999).
