Richard Alan Murray is an English businessman. He was the chairman of Charlton Athletic F.C., Charlton Athletic on several occasions since the 1990s up until November 2019. Murray founded Avesco plc, the specialist services provider to the entertainment & sports industry in 1984, and was Chairman/owner of it for over 30 years. In 1988 he received, on behalf of the company, the Emmy Award for services to the television industry. A subsidiary of Avesco, which grew into a major giant-screen display company, was hired for the London, Beijing, and Rio Olympics Opening & Closing ceremonies. It also covered music festivals. The company grew to 700 employees world-wide and in late 2016, was sold to NEP, the global television broadcast provider. Murray joined the board of Charlton Athletic F.C. in the early 1990s and is credited with being one of the key people in helping the club move back to The Valley (London), The Valley in December 1992. Richard Murray (1725?–1799) was an Irish mathematician and academic, who spent his whole career Trinity College Dublin (TCD), serving both as Erasmus Smith's Professor of Mathematics (1764-1795) and Provost (1795-1799). Career Richard Murray was born in County Down, to William Murray (merchant). He matriculated at TCD on 30 May 1743, aged 16, and was a Scholar there in 1745. He was awarded BA (1747), MA and Fellow (1750), BD (1759), and DD (1762). Richard Murray (born 4 January 1989, in Cape Town) is a Dutch/South African triathlete. Murray won the Junior ITU Duathlon World Championships in 2007 and 2008, entered the adult Tri in 2009, and was the Under-23 African champion in both triathlon and duathlon in 2010, and was the elite African triathlon champion in 2011 and 2012. He scored his first win in the ITU World Triathlon Series in Hamburg in 2012. At the 2012 Summer Olympics men's triathlon on Tuesday, 7 August, he placed 17th. In 2014-2015, he was part of ECS Triathlon, an elite club based in Sartrouville, France. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he won a silver medal in the mixed team relay and a bronze in the men's triathlon. He won the Gran Final of the World Triathlon Series (WTS) in Chicago in 2015. Richard Paget Murray (1842, Isle of Man – 1908, Shapwick, Dorset, Dorset) was an English clergyman, botanist and lepidopterist. After secondary education at King William's College, he matriculated in 1864 at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. There he graduated with a B.A. in 1868 and an M.A. in 1871. He was ordained a deacon in 1868 and a priest in 1869. His herbarium contained plants from Ireland, the Canary Islands, Mauritius, Portugal, France, the Alps and the Dolomites. Specimens dispersed after his death are held by several institutions including the Natural History Museum (London) and Kew Gardens. He was elected a Fellow of the Linnean Society in 1882. Richard William ("RW") Murray Snr. (1819-1908) was a journalist, editor, newspaper proprietor and politician of the Cape Colony. He was a lifelong supporter of British imperial expansion, and used the name "Limner" in most of his writings. The Cape Monitor (1854-1856) Murray was born in London in 1819. In his youth, Murray worked for several newspapers in London, before he arrived in Cape Town in 1854 and immediately began work as editor of the reactionary '' Cape Monitor''. In this capacity, he attended and reported on the early sessions of the new Cape Parliament as one of two observer newspapers (the other being the liberal '' Commercial Advertiser and Mail'').
