Richard Morgan (Tudor Judge)
Sir Richard Morgan SL PC (died May 1556) was a Welsh lawyer, judge and politician of the mid-Tudor period. After achieving prominence as a lawyer in the reign of Henry VIII, he became recorder of Gloucester and also Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Gloucester in the three parliaments of 1545, 1547 and March 1553. He was a notable Catholic supporter of Mary, who made him Chief Justice of the Common Pleas. However, he was soon removed from office and died in mysterious circumstances, apparently suffering from some form of mental disorder. Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hillebrand Morgan, VD, CLIV was a Ceylonese lawyer. He was the commanding officer of the Ceylon Light Infantry Volunteers. Born to Sir Richard Francis Morgan, 13th Queen's Advocate of Ceylon and acting Chief Justice of Ceylon, Richard Hillebrand Morgan was educated at the Colombo Academy and the S. Thomas' College. In 1858 he traveled to England for studies at Cheltenham College, in 1863 he entered St John's College, Cambridge, where he graduated with BA in 1866. In 1868, he was admitted as a barrister from the Lincoln's Inn. He returned to Ceylon and became an advocate and established his legal practice. He served as the acting police magistrate of Colombo and district judge of Colombo. He was a member of council of legal education. Richard Williams Morgan
Richard Williams Morgan (1815โ€“1889), also known by his bardic name Mรดr Meirion, was a Welsh Anglican priest, Welsh nationalist, campaigner for the use of the Welsh language and author. Morgan's outspoken criticism of English bishops in Wales who could not speak Welsh led him into conflict with the authorities of the Church of England. He supported the Celtic revival movement, and in 1858 helped organise an eisteddfod at Llangollen. In books on the history of the Welsh and the origins of Christianity in Wales, he traced the ancestry of the Welsh people back to Japheth, son of Noah, and claimed that the apostle Paul had converted the people of Britain to Christianity; thus, he claimed, the British Church was as old as the Church of Rome, and had never owed allegiance to the Pope. Dick Thompson Morgan (December 6, 1853 โ€“ July 4, 1920) was a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from Oklahoma. Early life and education Born at Prairie Creek, Indiana, a few miles southwest of Terre Haute, Indiana, Morgan attended the country schools and the Prairie Creek High School. In 1876 he received a bachelor's degree and in 1878 a master's degree both from Union Christian College, Merom, Indiana. He became a professor of mathematics in that college. Richard Glen Morgan (born 24 July 1972 in Wellington) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Auckland and Northern Districts from 1993 to 2002.
