Richard Moore (comics)
Richard Moore (born July 17, 1966, in French Camp, California as Fredrick William Morehead) is an American writer and artist of comic books. His published titles include '' Far West'' (Antarctic Press), ''Boneyard'' (NBM Publishing) and ''Deja Vu'' (Radio Comix). Biography Overview Moore's first original work was '' Far West'', a four-issue limited series published in 1998–1999 by Antarctic Press. A sequel to ''Far West'' was published in 2008. Moore published ''Boneyard'', a quarterly fantasy humor title, from 2001 through 2009 with NBM Publishing. ''Boneyard'' won the 2005 gold medal for all-ages graphic novels from ''ForeWord Magazine''. Some of Moore's adult-only work includes one-shot titles from different publishers such as ''Genus'' and ''Milk!''. Moore also contributed to the first issue of the gay title ''Genus Male''. French Camp, California
French Camp (from ''Campo de los Franceses'', Spanish for "Field of the Frenchmen") is an unincorporated community in San Joaquin County, California, United States. The population was 3,770 as of the 2020 census. Up from 3,376 at the 2010 census, and down from 4,109 at the 2000 census. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined French Camp as a census-designated place (CDP). The census definition of the area may not precisely correspond to local understanding of the area with the same name. French Camp is the location of the U.S. Army Sharpe Depot and the GSA Western Distribution Center, and is the oldest settlement in San Joaquin County. San Joaquin General Hospital is located in French Camp. It is also the location of the county jail, the county juvenile hall and the county children's shelter, which combine to form a sizable percentage of the place's population. National Cartoonists Society Awards
The National Cartoonists Society (NCS) is an organization of professional cartoonists in the United States. It presents the National Cartoonists Society Awards. The Society was born in 1946 when groups of cartoonists got together to entertain the troops. They enjoyed each other's company and decided to meet on a regular basis. NCS members work in many branches of the profession, including advertising, animation, newspaper comic strips and syndicated single-panel cartoons, comic books, editorial cartoons, gag cartoons, graphic novels, greeting cards, magazine and book illustration. Founded by Terry Nantier in 1976 as Flying Buttress Publications, NBM is one of the oldest graphic novel publishers in North America. The company was founded in 2000 in South Carolina as BookSurge and was acquired by Amazon in 2005. History CreateSpace publishes books containing any content at all other than just placeholder text. It neither edits nor verifies. Books are printed on demand, meaning each volume is produced in response to an actual purchase on Amazon. CreateSpace continued its publishing services for 8 years until its transfer to Amazon's Media on Demand. By 2018 it has published 1,416,384 books for over 15,000 authors. Boneyard (comic)
''Boneyard'' was an American quarterly comic book series created by Richard Moore, published by NBM Publishing, which ran 28 issues from 2001 to 2009. It is currently on hiatus. Publication history There are currently 28 issues of Boneyard which have been published as a quarterly comic book title. In addition an un-numbered Swimsuit Special was released between issues 9 and 10. Every four issues are then collected into a trade paperback which are expected to remain in print for the foreseeable future. Currently all issues are available in seven black and white collections. Color reprints are also available for the first four collections, and have been announced for the entire run of trade paperbacks and will replace the current black and white pressings when the print run is sold. ''Ninja High School'' (also known as ''NHS'') is a comic book series created, written, and illustrated by Ben Dunn, and published by Antarctic Press (at one point being published by Eternity Comics). On occasion other artists and writers have contributed to the series, including Katie Bair, Fred Perry, Robby Bevard, Carlos Castro, and Fabian Doles. ''NHS'' takes place in a suburban town known as Quagmire, located "somewhere in the Midwest". ''Far West'' is a comic book limited series created by Richard Moore and published by Antarctic Press. The setting is an industrial age Western-style secondary world full of creatures such as elves, dwarves, centaurs and other fantasy creatures. Plot Meg, a half-elf gunslinger and her partner Phil, a talking grizzly bear. As bounty hunters, they are hired to capture an outlaw who uses a fire-breathing dragon to rob trains. They later come into conflict with a gang of ogres led by the notorious Moonshine Kid. In their latest (currently unpublished) adventure, they pursue a fugitive into the haunted Badlands and have to fight against an evil spirit called Kodiki who can transform himself into the physical manifestations of their worst fears.
