Richard Meyer is the Robert and Ruth Halperin Professor in Art History at Stanford University. Prior to joining Stanford, he was an associate professor of Art History at the University of Southern California. He is the author of ''Outlaw Representation'', a book about censorship and homosexuality in American art, and ''What Was Contemporary Art?'', as well as a contributor to Artforum magazine. Richard Meyer (folk Music)
Richard Meyer (September 6, 1952 – May 14, 2012) was an American folk singer-songwriter, writer, painter, and set designer. Meyer was active in the Greenwich Village folk music scene of the 1980s and 1990s and did much to promote other artists. As one of the leaders of a musicians cooperative in the Village he handled booking at the SpeakEasy and edited '' Fast Folk Musical Magazine'' (1986–1997). Later, he wrote reviews for various media such as AllMusic. He also worked extensively as a lighting/scenery designer in theater. Since the summer of 2008, Meyer's advancing Parkinson's disease made it impossible for him to live independently, and spent his last years at a nursing home in the New York area. Richard Meyer (mathematician)
Richard Ernst Meyer (23 March 1919 – 16 January 2008) was a mathematician and engineer. Born in Berlin, Germany, Meyer received his PhD in aeronautical engineering from ETH Zürich in 1946. He worked at the University of Manchester and in 1953, he got a job as a senior lecturer in aeronautical engineering at the University of Sydney. He studied turbines, which led him to the research of supersonic aeronautics and the theory of characteristics. Meyer did both theoretical and experimental research; he set up a supersonic laboratory in Australia. He was elected into the Australian Academy of Science in 1956. In 1957, Meyer moved to the department of applied mathematics at Brown University. By this time, he had also become interested in the theory of water waves. Additionally, he looked into theoretical aspects of hyperbolic and singular partial differential equations and asymptotics.
