Richard Mantle
Sir Richard John Mantle (born 21 January 1947) is a British cultural administrator, who has served as General Director of Opera North since 1994 and will retire in 2023, to be replaced by Laura Canning. Biography Mantle was born on 21 January 1947. He was educated at the Tiffin School, an all-boys grammar school in Kingston upon Thames, and then at the Ealing College of Advanced Technology. He joined Beecham Group to work in personnel in 1969. After Beecham, he undertook a similar, more senior role at J. Walter Thompson, before joining the English National Opera in 1980, first as Personnel Director and then deputy managing director until 1985. Mantle was the managing director of Scottish Opera for 1985 to 1991, then Edmonton Opera in Canada from 1991 to 1994, before joining Opera North. College Of The Resurrection, Mirfield
The College of the Resurrection, popularly known as Mirfield, is an Anglo-Catholic theological college of the Church of England in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, England. The college was founded in 1902 and describes itself as "A Theological College like no other". The college has close links to the Community of the Resurrection. It trains men and women in the Anglo-Catholic tradition for the priesthood. Daily life All resident students are expected to attend Matins and Evensong six days a week. On most days the college says Matins and celebrates Low Mass in the college chapel and joins the Community of the Resurrection to sing Evensong. Saturday is the normal day off each week when there are no obligations. On Sundays, students are expected to join the community for Matins and the Solemn Mass. West Yorkshire
West Yorkshire is a metropolitan and ceremonial county in the Yorkshire and Humber Region of England. It is an inland and upland county having eastward-draining valleys while taking in the moors of the Pennines. Officer Of The Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. The Doctor of Music degree (D.Mus., D.M., Mus.D. or occasionally Mus.Doc.) is a higher doctorate awarded on the basis of a substantial portfolio of compositions and/or scholarly publications on music.
