Richard Lowe (cricketer, Born 1869)
Richard Lowe (18 June 1869 – 3 July 1946) was an English cricketer. Lowe was a right-handed batsman who bowled left-arm medium pace. He was born at Kirkby-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire. Lowe made his first-class cricket debut for Lord Sheffield's XI against the Marylebone Cricket Club at Sheffield Park in 1891. His next first-class appearance came in his debut match for Sussex in the 1893 County Championship against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. He made thirteen further first-class appearances for the county, the last of which came against Surrey in the 1894 County Championship. He later joined Glamorgan, making his debut for the Welsh county against Monmouthshire in the 1897 Minor Counties Championship. He played minor counties cricket for Glamorgan from 1897 to 1901, making a total of 42 appearances, the last of which came against Devon. Kirkby-in-Ashfield
Kirkby-in-Ashfield is a market town in the Ashfield District of Nottinghamshire, England. With a population of 25,265 (according to the 2001 National Census), it is a part of the wider Mansfield Urban Area. Trent Bridge
Trent Bridge Cricket Ground is a cricket ground mostly used for Test, One-Day International and county cricket located in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England, just across the River Trent from the city of Nottingham. Trent Bridge is also the headquarters of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. As well as international cricket and Nottinghamshire's home games, the ground has hosted the Finals Day of the Twenty20 Cup twice and will host the final of the One-Day Cup between 2020 and 2024. The Lancashire League is a competitive league of local cricket clubs drawn from the small to middle-sized mill towns, mainly but not exclusively, of East Lancashire. Its real importance is probably due to its history of employing professional players of international standing to play in the League. Church and Oswaldtwistle Cricket Club, based at Oswaldtwistle, Accrington, is a cricket club in the Lancashire League. They play at the West End Ground on Blackburn Road in Oswaldtwistle. Devon County Cricket Club (Devon Cricket) is one of 20 minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Devon. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Championship Western Division Two and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy. Devon played List A matches occasionally from 1969 until 2005 but is not classified as a List A team 'per se'. The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club. Of the 39 historic counties of England, 17 have a first-class county cricket team (the 18th first-class county is Glamorgan in Wales) and 18 participate in the National Counties championship. The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. History The competition began in 1895, with the Worcestershire honorary secretary Paul Foley being influential in its creation. Apart from the two World War periods, it has been contested annually ever since. From 2014 to 2019 the tournament was known as the Unicorns Championship. Monmouthshire County Cricket Club
Monmouthshire County Cricket Club was a cricket team that represented the county of Monmouthshire in the Minor Counties Championship competition from 1901 to 1934. The county was usually among the weakest in the Minor Counties competition, and only for a few seasons in the 1900s did it finish in the top half of the final table.
