Richard L. Fisher

	Richard L. Fisher Richard Leland "Dick" Fisher (September 16, 1947 – August 27, 2012) was an American politician and energy executive from Virginia. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1990 to 1997, representing the 35th district in Northern Virginia. He was also a member of the town council of Vienna, Virginia, for 4 years. Outside of politics, Fisher worked for Washington Gas Light Company for about 30 years, and served for several years in the Army Reserve. Education and career Fisher was the son of Emily and Martin Fisher. His father co-founded Fisher Brothers, a real estate development firm, with his brothers Larry and Zachary. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1971. 	Dorothy McDiarmid Dorothy Shoemaker McDiarmid (October 22, 1906 – June 8, 1994) was a teacher, real estate broker, Quaker activist, and Virginia legislator for nearly 26 years. Early and family life Born in Waco, Texas to U.S. Department of Agriculture employee Daniel Naylor Shoemaker and his wife Frances Hartley, Dorothy Shoemaker was raised in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area (where her parents helped found the Florida Avenue Friends Meeting). She later remembered attending women's suffrage parades in which her mother marched. She attended Central High School, then Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, from which she graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1929. 	LCM-8 The LCM-8 ("Mike Boat") is a river boat and mechanized landing craft used by the United States Navy and Army during the Vietnam War and subsequent operations. They are currently used by governments and private organizations throughout the world. The acronym stands for "Landing Craft Mechanized, Mark 8". (The "Mike Boat" term refers to the military phonetic alphabet, LCM being "Lima Charlie Mike".)
