Richard Kozak
Richard Kozak (born September 20, 1949 in Saint Boniface, Winnipeg, Saint Boniface, Manitoba) is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1988 to 1990, representing the eastern Winnipeg electoral district (Canada), riding of Transcona (electoral district), Transcona for the Manitoba Liberal Party. Kozak was educated in Political Science at the University of Winnipeg, French language, French at Université Laval and Political Economy at the University of Toronto. He worked as a financial planner before entering political life. In the 1988 Manitoba general election, Manitoba provincial election of 1988, Kozak was elected in Transcona over incumbent New Democratic Party of Manitoba, New Democrat Wilson Parasiuk by 709 votes. St-Boniface (or Saint-Boniface) is a city ward and neighbourhood in Winnipeg. Along with being the centre of the Franco-Manitoban community, it ranks as the largest francophone community in Western Canada. It features such landmarks as the St. Boniface Cathedral, Boulevard Provencher, the Provencher Bridge, Esplanade Riel, St. Boniface Hospital, the Université de Saint-Boniface, and the Royal Canadian Mint. The 1990 Manitoba general election was held on September 11, 1990 to elect Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the Province of Manitoba, Canada. The 1988 Manitoba general election was held on April 26, 1988 to elect Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Manitoba, Canada. It resulted in a minority government. The Progressive Conservative Party won 25 seats, against 20 for the Liberal Party and 12 for the New Democratic Party. Background The election was called unexpectedly in early 1988, after disgruntled NDP backbencher Jim Walding voted against his government's budget on March 9, 1988.
