Richard Jackson (born 18 April 1980) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Scarborough Born in Whitby, North Yorkshire, Jackson began his career at Third Division club Scarborough, as a trainee in August 1997. He made his first-team debut for the club in a 4–0 win at home to Doncaster Rovers on 1 November 1997. Jackson signed his first professional contract with Scarborough on 27 March 1998. In 1998–99, Jackson made 22 appearances in all competitions for Scarborough. Derby County Jackson signed for Premier League club Derby County in March 1999 for a transfer fee of £30,000. He did not feature for the club until making successive appearances in the final two matches of 1999–2000, including his debut for Derby in a 0–0 draw at home to Newcastle United on 6 May 2000. In professional association football, a free transfer, also known as a Bosman transfer, involves a professional association football club releasing a player when the player's contract has expired or made available just before the end of the contract. The player can then go on to sign for any club offering a contract to them. 2005 Football League Play-offs
The Football League play-offs for the 2004–05 season were held in May 2005, with the finals taking place at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The play-off semi-finals were played over two legs and were contested by the teams who finished in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place in the Football League Championship and League One and the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th placed teams in the League Two table.
