Richard Henshall
Richard James "Hen" Henshall is a British progressive metal multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for being the guitarist and keyboardist for the bands To-Mera, Haken, Nova Collective, and Opinaut. He has released one album (''Exile'') with To-Mera, six (''Aquarius'', '' Visions,'' ''The Mountain,'' ''Affinity, Vector,'' and ''Virus'') with Haken, and one solo album (''The Cocoon''). He has also released EPs and singles: ''Oxygen'' (with Opinaut), ''Redemption'' (with Alma West), '' Earthbound'' (with To-Mera), and ''Restoration'' (with Haken). Henshall was classically trained on the piano from the age of seven. By the age of 11 to 12, he started playing the guitar on a self-taught basis. He also had drums and clarinet classes. Mike Portnoy
Michael Stephen Portnoy (born April 20, 1967) is an American musician who is primarily known as the former drummer, backing vocalist, and co-founder of the progressive metal band Dream Theater. In September 2010, Portnoy announced his departure from Dream Theater after 25 years, with Mike Mangini taking his place as drummer of the band. Since his departure Portnoy has remained active, with a variety of bands and projects, including Adrenaline Mob, Transatlantic, Yellow Matter Custard, Flying Colors, The Winery Dogs, Liquid Tension Experiment, Metal Allegiance, Sons of Apollo, the Neal Morse Band and BPMD. To-Mera are an English progressive metal band from South Oxfordshire. They were formed in 2004 and play a technical style of metal characterized by long songs, multiple time changes and jazz interludes. History Formation of the band The word 'To-Mera' has been loosely translated to mean "The Land of the Pyramid", as cited in ''The Secret History of Ancient Egypt'' by Herbie Brennan. However, the true meaning of the word is disputed. To-Mera cite their other influences as Opeth, Evergrey, Symphony X, Dream Theater and Pain of Salvation. Shawn Lane (March 21, 1963 – September 26, 2003) was an American musician who released two studio albums and collaborated with a variety of musicians including Ringo Starr, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Reggie Young, Joe Walsh, Jonas Hellborg, Anders Johansson, Jens Johansson and many others. After studying the piano, he learned to play the guitar, which he played with exceptional speed. Allan Holdsworth (6 August 1946 – 15 April 2017) was a British jazz fusion and progressive rock guitarist and composer. Holdsworth was known for his esoteric and idiosyncratic usage of advanced music theory concepts, especially with respect to melody and harmony. His music incorporates a vast array of complex chord progressions, often using unusual chord shapes in an abstract way based on his understanding of "chord scales", and intricate improvised solos, frequently across shifting tonal centres. He used myriad scale forms often derived from those such as the Lydian, diminished, harmonic major, augmented, whole tone, chromatic and altered scales, among others, often resulting in an unpredictable and dissonant " outside" sound. Ross William Jennings (born 7 February 1984) is a British progressive metal singer, most known for being a founder member and the lead vocalist of the bands Haken and Novena. As of 2020, he has released six albums with Haken (''Aquarius, Visions, The Mountain, Affinity, Vector'' and ''Virus''), one with Novena (''Eleventh Hour''), three with Redados (''Too Tired for Sleep, One Way Conversations and Turbo Torture: Train Like Dogs...Ride Like Gods'') and one solo album (''A Shadow of My Future Self''). ''Delusions'' is the second album from the British progressive metal band To-Mera. Its musical style is similar to that of their debut album '' Transcendental''. The album was initially released in a limited edition glossy slipcase featuring the band logo embroidered onto it. This was available directly through the band website and was limited to 2000 copies, all of which are now sold out. The artwork was once again done by Eliran Kantor. Emperor is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1991, regarded as highly influential by critics and emerging black metal bands. The group split up in 2001, but reunited from 2005 to 2007 for a few festival dates and brief US tours, and again reunited in 2013 to 2014. Emperor reformed for the third time in 2016. Fates Warning is an American progressive metal band, formed in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1982 by vocalist John Arch, guitarists Jim Matheos and Victor Arduini, bassist Joe DiBiase, and drummer Steve Zimmerman. There have been numerous lineup changes over the course of their -year career, and Matheos is the only constant member. Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung and Mike Portnoy while they attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Transcendental is the debut album from UK progressive metal band To-Mera. Their style is characterised by female vocals, long, multi-sectioned songs, heavy riffs and jazzy sections. The album has been likened to the works of bands such as Symphony X, SikTh, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Opeth. Work on the album The album was recorded and mixed between May and July 2006 in Hungary (drums, vocals, guitars), England (keyboards, bass) and France (Audio mixing and mastering). The cover was created by Eliran Kantor. The band liked the website he made for them so much that they took the album artwork directly from it. The band chose Transcendental as the album title to reflect the emotional effects of their music. The idea that the title was chosen to hint at the ''Transcendental Études'' written by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt - which were considered some of the most technical musical pieces of their time - has been denied by the band.
