Richard Allen Griffin (born April 15, 1952) is a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Previously, he was a judge on the Michigan Court of Appeals. Griffin was first nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit by President George W. Bush on June 26, 2002, to a seat vacated by Judge Damon Keith as Keith assumed senior status. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 9, 2005, and received commission on June 10, 2005. Richard Griffin between 1797 and 1825, was a British Whig politician and literary figure. Background and education Born at Stanlake Park at Ruscombe in Berkshire, Braybrooke was the son of Richard Griffin, 2nd Baron Braybrooke, and Catherine, daughter of Prime Minister George Grenville. His father had inherited the barony as well as Audley End from his kinsman, John Whitwell, 4th Baron Howard de Walden and 1st Baron Braybrooke, in 1797. James Richard Griffin (born January 28, 1940, in Jackson, Mississippi) is an American jazz trombonist known for his work on Strata-East Records, and with Rahsaan Roland Kirk. As a child he studied piano, soon switching to trombone. After earning his bachelor's degree in 1963, Griffin began teaching high school while working on his Master's. Griffin is most known for his technique of circular phonics, combining multiphonics with circular breathing. He taught music theory and the history of jazz at Wesleyan University. Later in life, Griffin became an accomplished painter, with showings in New York City and Europe. A 1995 CD release, ''The Eighth Wonder & More'' (Konnex Records) features that album as well as most of the ''Now is the Time'' album. Poor Law Medical Reform Association
The Poor Law Medical Reform Association was founded by Dr. Richard Griffin, the medical officer of the Weymouth Poor law union in 1853. It merged with the Convention of Poor Law Medical Officers in 1856. In 1868 it merged with the Association of Metropolitan Workhouse Medical Officers to create the Poor Law Medical Officers Association. In 1859 it produced a pamphlet "The Grievances of the Poor-Law Medical Officers." Griffin, as Chairman of the Association, was a vigorous lobbyist in the campaign which led up to the Metropolitan Poor Act 1867.
