Richard Granville
Richard St Leger Granville (24 April 1907 – 8 August 1972) was an English cricketer. Granville was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Kings Worthy, Hampshire. Granville made a single first-class appearance for Warwickshire against Leicestershire at Edgbaston in the 1934 County Championship. Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bat, making 163 all out in their first-innings, with Granville who batted at number seven scoring 2 runs before he was dismissed by Ewart Astill. Leicestershire responded in their first-innings with 125 all out, to which Warwickshire responded in their second-innings with 148 all out, with Granville making 7 runs before he was dismissed by Astill once more. Warwickshire went on to win the match by 78 runs. This was his only major appearance for Warwickshire. He died at Banbury, Oxfordshire, on 8 August 1972. Kings Worthy
Kings Worthy is a village and civil parish in Hampshire, England, approximately two miles north-east of Winchester. Kings Worthy was a tithing of Barton Stacey when the Domesday Book was written. St Mary's church The parish church, built in 1864, is found on London Road. Edgbaston Cricket Ground, also known as the County Ground or Edgbaston Stadium, is a cricket ground in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, England. Ewart Astill
William Ewart Astill (1 March 1888 – 10 February 1948) was, along with George Geary, the mainstay of the Leicestershire team from 1922 to about 1935. He played in nine Test matches but was never picked for a home Test or for an Ashes tour. However, for the best part of three decades he was a vital member of a generally struggling Leicestershire team. With no amateur able to play frequently for the county, Astill became the first officially appointed professional captain of any county for over fifty years in 1935. The county enjoyed a useful season, but at forty-seven years of age, Astill was only a stop gap before an amateur of the required standard and availability could be found. Leicestershire County Cricket Club
Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Leicestershire. It has also been representative of the county of Rutland. The club's limited overs team is called the Leicestershire Foxes.
