Richard Gordon was an American actor in vaudeville and films and on stage and radio. He was perhaps best known for portraying the title role in the radio version of ''The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes''. Early years A native of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Gordon worked as a reporter on a newspaper there before he moved to New York City and became a reporter for the ''New York World''. His earnings paid for his studies at Yale and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Richard Gordon (born Gordon Stanley Benton, 15 September 1921 – 11 August 2017, also known as Gordon Stanley Ostlere), was an English ship's surgeon and anaesthetist. As Richard Gordon, Ostlere wrote numerous novels, screenplays for film and television and accounts of popular history, mostly dealing with the Medicine, practice of medicine. He was best known for a long series of Doctor (novel series), comic novels on a medical theme beginning with ''Doctor in the House (novel), Doctor in the House'', and the subsequent film, television, radio and stage adaptations. His ''The Alarming History of Medicine'' was published in 1993, and he followed this with ''The Alarming History of Sex''. Gordon was born in Paddington, London. Richard Gordon (31 December 1925 – 1 November 2011) was a British-born producer and financier of horror films. Career As a youth, Gordon displayed a love of films from an early age. While he was in school, he wrote articles on the subject, edited fan club magazines, and organized a film society. His entry into the industry was delayed by a period of service in the British Royal Navy, from 1944 through 1946. In 1947, Gordon and his brother Alex moved to New York City. Two years later, at the age of 23, Gordon set up his own company, Gordon Films, a distributor of imported films in the United States. He produced twice for Boris Karloff, and later worked with Antony Balch on two exploitation films. His last two films were '' The Cat and the Canary'' (1979) and ''Inseminoid'' (1981). Richard Gordon (born 1960) is a Scottish radio and television presenter. Gordon was born in Aberdeen and educated at Skene Square Primary, Aberdeen Grammar School and Aberdeen College of Commerce. He originally worked as a banker before beginning his first job in radio at Northsound Radio in 1987. He was the host of BBC Radio Scotland's football programme ''Sportsound'' from 1992 until 2022, and hosted the Scottish Premier League highlights on '' Sportscene'' from 2008 to 2010. Life and work Gordon was educated at University of Chicago (1963–67). His book ''American Surveillance'' (2009) takes a visually intricate, and often witty look at the role and surveillance and the difference between observation and electronic scrutiny. He wrote reviews of photography for various publications including for the photo-eye website. Gordon conceived and then executed ''The Firestorm Family Portrait Project''. Richard "Dick" Gordon (born November 6, 1943) is an American theoretical biologist. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the eldest son of Jack Gordon, a salesman and American handball champion, and artist Diana Gordon. He is married to retired scientist Natalie K Björklund with whom he co-wrote his second book and several academic publications. He has three sons, Leland, Bryson and Chason Gordon and three stepchildren Justin, Alan and Lana Hunstad. Gordon was a professor at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba from 1978 to 2011. Richard S. Gordon (born July 3, 1948) is an American Democratic politician from Menlo Park, California. He served in the California State Assembly as a representative for the 24th district. Gordon previously served as Assembly representative for the 21st district, President of the California State Association of Counties, and a member of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.
