Richard England (born 9 July 1981) is an Australian racing cyclist who rides for American continental team . England turned pro in 2005 and is a sprinter. His biggest success to date is winning stage 5 of the 2008 Tour de Georgia ahead of Rory Sutherland and George Hincapie. A sprinter is a road bicycle racer or track racer who can finish a race very explosively by accelerating quickly to a high speed, often using the slipstream of another cyclist or group of cyclists tactically to conserve energy. The 2008 Tour de Georgia was a seven-stage professional bicycle race held from April 21 through April 27, 2008 across the state of Georgia. The race was part of the 2008 USA Cycling Pro Tour and 2007-2008 UCI America Tour, and was presented by AT&T. Stage Results Stage 1, April 21, Tybee Island - Savannah, 115.6 km The first stage of the Tour was a short and flat stage suited for sprinters, starting in Tybee Island and finishing in Savannah. Rory Sutherland (cyclist)
Rory Sutherland (born 8 February 1982) is an Australian former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2005 and 2020, for the , , , , and teams. After retiring, Sutherland became the Elite Road Coordinator for the Australian cycling team. Career Born in Canberra, Australia, Sutherland began racing competitively at the age of 14, and rode in Europe with and from 2001 to 2005. He tested positive for Clomiphene, which according to some medical experts is not a performance-enhancing drug although it is on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) banned substance list. In 2006 Sutherland was given a 9-month conditional suspension by the Belgian Cycling Federation, with whom he holds a racing licence. He was named in the start list for the 2015 Vuelta a España. George Hincapie
George Anthony Hincapie (born June 29, 1973) is an American former racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 1994 and 2012. Hincapie was a key domestique of Lance Armstrong. Hincapie was also a domestique for Alberto Contador in 2007 and for Cadel Evans in 2011, when both men won the Tour de France. He was the owner and general manager of UCI Professional Continental team until it folded at the end of the 2020 season. On October 10, 2012, Hincapie released a statement on his website acknowledging the use of performance-enhancing drugs and confirming that he had been approached by US federal investigators and USADA about his experiences with doping.
