Richard Dunn (footballer)
Richard Dunn (23 December 1919 – December 1985) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for West Ham United and Hartlepools United as an inside-forward. Born in Easington, Dunn began his career at Ferryhill Athletic before moving to West Ham United in 1937. Dunn had not made a first-team appearance before the outbreak of the Second World War and served with the Essex Regiment and Royal Artillery after hostilities commenced. Dunn spent over six years in the Army and made guest appearances for Hartlepools United, Preston North End and York City, as well as 35 appearances for West Ham in the League South, where he scored 23 goals. He also made an appearance for Tottenham Hotspur in September 1944, when he was called on as a spectator after the Spurs team had arrived with just four players. After the war, Dunn made his competitive debut for West Ham on 9 September 1946, along with goalkeeper George Taylor, in a 3–2 defeat at Fulham. He made 11 appear ... Easington, County Durham
Easington, also known as Easington Village, is a village and civil parish in eastern County Durham, England. It is located at the junction of the A182 and B1283, leading north-west to Hetton-le-Hole and south east to Horden. It is near the A19, which travels north to Seaham and Sunderland as well as south to Peterlee and Stockton-on-Tees. The population of Easington Village was 2,164 in 2001, increasing slightly to 2,171 at the 2011 Census. History There is evidence of Easington having been an important pre-Norman conquest site, including architectural fragments (dating from as early as the 8th century) found within the fabric of St Mary's Church. George Edward Taylor (21 March 1920 – October 1983) was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for West Ham United. Born in Wigan, Taylor began his career at Gainsborough Trinity before moving to West Ham United in December 1938. After the outbreak of World War II, Taylor made 10 appearances in the League South. When hostilities ended, Taylor made his competitive debut for West Ham on 9 September 1946, along with inside-forward Richard Dunn, in a 3–2 defeat at Fulham. Hartlepool () is a seaside and port town in County Durham, England. It is the largest settlement and administrative centre of the Borough of Hartlepool. With an estimated population of 90,123, it is the second-largest settlement in County Durham. Hartlepool is locally administrated by Hartlepool Borough Council, a unitary authority which also administrates outlying villages of Seaton Carew, Greatham, Hart Village, Dalton Piercy and Elwick.
